A good printer, but ........

This printer was obtained under warranty as a replacement for an Artisan 837 which was one that ticked all the boxes for me.
While this has all the same features including print, scan, multiple page feeder and fax, the one area that let's it down is printing to a CD/DVD.
On the 837 I touched the screen and the CD/DVD holder popped out, accepted the disc and then retracted with one more touch to do the printing, When it had finished it then ejected the disc and accepted the next one with one touch of the screen.
To do the same task with the XP-850 the disc is placed in a seperate holder, then I go through three steps on the touchpad before inserting the holder and then one more step to insert it.
After the printing is done, which like it's predecessor is quick, quiet and very good quality, the holder is then ejected for me to load the next disc, and this is where it falls down.
On the 837 I only had to put the next disc in the holdeer and press once on the keypad and it was ready for printing. But with the 850 I have to go through the same four laborious steps just to get it ready to print.
I thought this task had been perfected even before the 837, and feel this is a major retrograde step if you're going to be using it for printing of even a small amount of discs.

Quality photos

I bought this printer to replace my Epson Stylus Photo R210 that had served me faithfully for MANY years until it finally died just before Xmas.I have always been impressed with the great phto quality of the Epson, and this new printer is excellent. My R210 was nice and compact and printed DVDs which was my main requirement for a replacement. The newer printers have a bigger footprint however, and the XP850 was a little more compact than others in the range, whilst having the important features I wanted of DVD printing, brilliant photo prints and the 6 cartridges which enable the sharper picture colour quality. The wifi feature is also a bonus that the old R210 didn't have, because it means it is accessible to all the computers and laptops in the house.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This printer is excellent for professional photographers needing printing on the go. It has full Wi- capacity, and takes a CF card, which you can print from without connecting to a computer.

I have used many printers over the years but my personal preference is the Epson range. I require photo quality print so when I wanted to upgrade my Stylus Photo TX800FW to enable wireless inter-connectivity with my phone, tablet etc, my immediate choice was the XP850 Expression Photo. It has not disappointed me. Brilliant.

Finally a printer that full fields or my needs and comes with full ink cartridges. Hate other printers that come with starter inks.

Highly recommended. Such an easy set up! Wifi is the best, Love the cover to protect the inside of the printer from dust. Kids stay clear away as there have no idea how to steal the paper!

This product is great for printing images directly onto CD/DVD's to indicate what is on each CD/DVD. It is easy to use the different printing options and scanning of items.
