No what I expected

At first I was very excited about my purchase. I bought this smart TV so I could get rid of Cable TV and Stream from the internet instead. Basically, all you get is Netflix. and a slim pick of others. This TV WILL NOT ALLOW you to add any additional apps.You will need to buy a ROKU HDMI connection ($48.00) to get HULU Plus and a whole bunch of other channel selections. Also be aware that such channels as FXNOW are not available unless you keep your cable service and have a paid subscription... Cable companies are getting smart and blocking you from accessing specific channels.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Calling this a SmartTV is nearly false advertising

If I could give it 0 stars I would. After 5 hours with support today we have determined that it does not run Hulu or Amazon (5 hours??? really?) The Bravia line is supposed to support Hulu. This is Bravia but does not support Hulu, or much of anything else. Let me tell you how happy I am that I bought this, a year of Netflix, and a year of Hulu and a year of Amazon Prime for my Mom and Grandfather for Christmas. This was their Christmas. Thinking it was merely a troubleshooting issue, we can not take it back now. It's not a troubleshooting issue, it just IS NOT A SMART TV. If you define a Smart TV as something that just plays Netflix (and NO it will not export sound to external speakers while doing so) then this is the TV for you! Otherwise, avoid this like the plague. Everything in our family has the Sony name on it. We buy this brand exclusively and have done so for decades because they normally make high quality products that work well together. I don't know what they were thinking by releasing this model with their brand name on it. What a hit to the brand! I will be wary of Sony products now and will do far more research on future purchases, something I have never had to do before because the Sony name used to be good enough. That used to be all I needed to know. DO NOT buy this TV if you are looking for a Smart TV. I really regret the purchase and the wasted money on Hulu and Amazon. That's $200 that will be completely wasted since this TV will not air them. *sigh* So disappointing.

Best 60" TV for the price

If you need a big bright 1080p TV on a budget this TV is the way to go. Integrated really well with my Sony Receiver. TV volume control also controls the surround sound volume. So far I have only used Netflix as part of the "Smart" TV. I haven't been able to figure out if I can use HBO GO or Amazon Prime on it yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hi LT619, thank you for your question,unfortunately the HBO GO app is only available on our google TVs and Amazon prime is not available on the KDL60R510A since the app cannot display close captions and it is a requirement for all internet video content

Poor Purchase

Would not play video files nor did thumbnails work. Worst of all the 2nd level tech support was horrible. I WILL be returning it.
