It's a Sony!

Very happy with this TV. I was looking for the past 2 years. The 7 year old 46" 720p "V" had got to the point all it would do is come on and go off, it was a monitor at that point so I was using other means routed though an AV receiver for media to watch on it. This set takes care of all my steaming needs and integrates perfectly with my Onkyo TX NR-808 it has everything I need. It is of the size, weight, and contour that it was easy for me and my wife to wall mount. The instructions were excellent for setting it up and Net Flix comes up almost immediately. For those that need to use the built in speakers this set is pretty good which is unusual considering how thin it is.
Great price, picture, and features. I would definitely buy this tv again.
My previous TV experiense has been with viewing tvs in the store and my old tv which was a 65" Toshiba rear projection HDTV purchased in 2005 for around $2800.
Only con so far is trying to update the software. The network works fine and when I try to do the update, it says it can't find the update and to check the network settings. After talking with Sony, there isn't an update available yet. I wish the message said "no update available at this time" instead of "check your settings". One star taken away for this.
At this price point, this is an outstanding purchase.
Best 60" LED TV for an incredibly low price! Fantastic picture, great features and Sony quality! The only negative thing I could say about it is it doesn't have enough inputs (component or composite video) for my low picture quality stuff. Overall, excellent TV!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This HDTV is awesome, its perfect. not too big or too small. I have it on my TV stand with a Sony soundbar and subwoofer. I also have the Wii hooked up to it. I love that I can entertain guests without having to move plugs around, the sound sounds great even with out the home theater system on. I have no use for my projector now that I have this 60" HDTV, great experience in my own home.

Great Picture When Settings Are Right! Here's Mine

It took me a few days to get the settings just right on my KDL60R510A and what a difference it makes! I'm not using game mode since it greys out some of the settings from being adjusted. The picture is rich in color with deep contrast range. I found that turning on Live Color and turning Gamma down to -2 or -3 made a huge difference too. If you don't want to ruin the settings you already have, try them on another input since each one can have its own separate settings. I'm not seeing motion blur or a tail on the end of the football in sports (mainly because MotionFlow and Cinemotion are off and the scene selection is sports). I've found that everything looks good with these settings whether I'm watching movies, sports or video files via DLNA.
Like most LCD/LED screens these days, optimum viewing angle is limited to about 35 degrees left/right before you notice the picture start washing out (this is different from my 2006 Sony S series flat screen which has a wider angle of acceptable picture viewing).
KDL60R510A: MY VIDEO SETTINGS (scene select - sports) backlight - 4 picture - 80 brightness - 50 color - 48 hue - 0 sharpness - (to taste) color temp - neutral noise reduction - medium mpeg noise reduction - off MotionFlow - off Cinemotion - off
IN ADVANCED SETTINGS: adv. contrast enhancer - off black corrector - off gamma - minus 2 clear white - off live color - low led motion - off
I would recommend this to a friend!

Semi smart TV

Okay, so this may not matter to a lot of people, but when we buy a "smart" tv from one of the biggest and best known electronics manufacturers in the world, we expect it to be exceptionally smart rather than the second rate intelligence of this unit. As this is a Sony Bravia line of smart TVs, this was a major part of our decision to buy it. Turns out this particular model, as a special buy, is lacking some of the features of a "normal" smart TV. In particular, it is not compatible with Hulu or Amazon Prime. Like I said, May not be a big issue for most, but we don't pay for the OMG cable package as we get 90% of the programs w watch through our Hulu account. And we're Amazon Prime members with access to free premium content from that service. It never occurred to us that a Sony Bravia branded smart TV would not support such common apps as these. And to make it worse, the TV is not compatible with Sony's own smart phone app and the built in browser only works if you plug in a mouse and keyboard (and even with that we've yet to be able to select a link on a web page). Now we've got to go by another dongle to put on it (Amazon Fire, Roku, Chromecast, ....) to make this TV truly smart the way it should have been out of the box. Like buying a computer with built in Bluetooth and having to put a dongle in the usb port to run your mouse. Just stupid. Picture is okay. It is 120 hz tv (in spite of the 240 motion processing that's on the box). What little we've used it has been okay. We don't have cable in the room where it's installed, so without buying that extra dongle, it's been fairly worthless.
