I first purchased a Jam Plus...it truly was a piece of junk. Would only connect to my Sony Experia Tablet occasionally and its sound cut to half volume on the second day of use. I returned it to Best Buy and picked up the JBL charge. Out of the box it immediately connected to my tablet and the sound quality is incredible for such a small device! As I write this I am listening to Pink Floyd from the JBL that is connected to my Droid Razr--incredible! I use it as a speaker connected to my Sony tablet in outdoor classrooms in the woods when I am teaching ecology/science--it fills the woods with sound and holds a charge very well. No worries on the charge time because I charge it with, car adapter when on the road, my computers USB at night or with a solar panel during the day. The price is a bit high but it is a quality product so I am willing to pay for the quality. Thank you JBL!
While I do like the sound quality of this speaker, I found the battery life to be lacking. Fully charged, only lasted for 6 hours at about 2/3 volume. Also, charges very slowly, and the USB outlet connector included seems pretty cheap.
I compared many (JBL Charge, Jawbone Jambox, Bose SoundLink and Beats Pill) at a local retail store and after an hour of listening, comparing and connecting to each I decided to purchase the JBL Charge. I was very surprised with the quality of the sound compared to the other three. It had the right amount of highs and lows for my ears. The other three were just to low (to much bass) that when I cranked up the volume the sound became very distorted unlike the JBL where it just got better and better. After my purchase I immediately when home opened, connect and listened for a couple of hours straight. On another note that has me really impressed me with the JBL is I visited a friends house for a BBQ and there were two of the other units there (Jawbone & Bose) and we compared all three at the same and boy did others at the BBQ really rave about the JBL for the quality of the sound; even those that owned the other two units! They all said the highs were really impressive with just the right amount of bass. Three key features of the JBL charge that made my decision were: 1) Price $149 (Jawbone $199 & Bose $299) 2) The design and size were just right for me (Jawbone was to small, Bose was to large & Beats was just an odd shape) 3) The battery life is 12 hours, even though I have not been able to put it to the test it also has the capability of charging your phone at the same time if it was put to the test as I know my phone would not outlast that (Jawbone & Bose 3-4 hours with no options to charge your phone). I did play it for 4 hours while charging my phone to a full battery (from half charged) and there were still 2 lights lit out of 3 for the charge status. In just the couple weeks I have owned it I have been very pleased and will continue to take to any function and/or event I attend to show and share its great sound and options!!!

I just paired JBL Charge With Sony TMR-BT8IP Blue Tooth Adapter for IPOD. Great sound quality. At first I was puzzled by How to pair it. Here is HOW 1) place JBL Charge in pairing mode by Holding down POWER button for 3 seconds.(it will start flashing blue - red - blue - red) 2) turn on IPOD but do not play. 3) Press and hold only button on Sony TMR-BT8IP for 7 seconds release the button as soon as blue light starts blinking quickly. That's it within seconds you will have them paired and flashing will stop on both devices :)
Great combination of small size and Sound quality. I have not yet used it for charging other devices. once I have enough to share, I will.
I've tested many portable bluetooth speakers including the Bose, the Pill, monster clarity, Braven 600, Jawbone to name a few and this one is the best by far. Its very loud and has good base. The base on the Bose is a bit better but this one is way more portable and half the price. Buy It, you won't be disappointing!!!
The JBL Charge is a high quality portable wireless speaker system. I use it to stream music from my Samsung Galaxy S 3 and from my laptop via bluetooth. The quality of the audio is flawless,...big sound from a small device. The JBL Charge is a great product and I highly recommend this product.
I have tried many portable BueTooth speakers. None come close to the JBL Charge in terms of great sound quality, portability, and long battery life. The 6000 mah battery that allows you to charge your phone or tablet is a bonus feature that IMO makes the Charge worth its cost over any speaker that might cost less. You should know, however, that the Charge does not NOT have speakerphone capability, like with the JBL Flip. For my needs, giving that feature up for more extended battery life with the Charge is a feature trade off I can live with, particularly since the Charge gives such clear, open, and balanced sound throughout the sound spectrum. Buy it! I doubt you will be disappointed.
