I had been checking these ...all the wireless sound boxes I could find for a few months, I work on the road a lot as a lineman so ability to travel is important. playing with the unit in rooms at home I could get the Best sound in the well dampened living room...as far as a audiophile rating goes you just cant compare to my home Magnapans on 375Watts of Carver power...but it does give you enough of it to make you want to move. The groove factor of this is quite a bit louder than most of them in the price range. Bose has a nice unit also but the style of this was just cooler to my eyes. I was surprised to see how it did for piano and violins, actually the YouTube streams from 2 Cellos sounded very good. definitely more room filling than I expected. The Version Charge 2 has more Bass but this is on closeout now for $20-$50 off so I bit the bullet and saved the money. It seams like it has recharged my Samsung G4 in about 3 hours to 98% , not sure how it will do on a second charge yet. It has played strong for just under 6 hours now. trying to really stress it, volume not max but loud. no one has been complaining of ear fatigue yet, but I do think the treble is slightly soft except when I place it near a solid surface. I'm learning just like my home Hi Fi System placement is of importance if I want to really get into the sound. but when the granddaughter was running through the house and we where talking with our own kids the background ambiences of the box was fine, didn't really matter where I put it. looking forward to playing with this at work outside and see how it helps my days go buy. The thing is solid, heavier then any of the others in this price range, As of now everyone is happy with the purchase.
It worked great for some time. I am not sure what time span is considered durable but I have had my charger for less than a year and it no longer takes a charge.
I had the same experience as MusicGirl. The unit worked well at first, but after a couple months it stopped charging. Of course, the receipt was long gone by then. JBL needs to address the long term reliability of this unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about this. The JBL Charge is a very reliable unit. Please email us at hcgcustomersupport5@harman.com and we can resolve your situation.
I had a lot better time with this than the JBL Air. This came in the time expected and took just a moment to hook up and use. A nice sound also. The JBL Air never did work and I finally was able to return it. Letter to President of JBL must have gotten lost as I never heard from him. Finally got a new one after 6 months of non-use and that one is working. Never did get a review to fill out on the Air
I was going to buy the beats pill just because beats was so popular. But im glad i didnt. this speaker has incredible sound, and the built in sub-woofer is insane. I have had it for a year and it still has 12+ hr. battery life and sounds as good as the day I got it. I use it for multiple hours daily and I have 0 complaints.
This unit rocks! Super easy to switch from iPad to iPhone. Love the sound it puts out. People are blown away when they realize that the big sound is coming from such a small unit. Bluetooth has great distance for on the job mobility. Impressed enough that I bought a second one for my daughter.
