Poor quality

After 5 years of troubles, this refrigerator is going to the scrap yard. In the last 5 years this refrigerator had to have the ice maker replaced, and the evaporator fan replaced twice. All of this was done out of warranty, and at considerable expense. Now the evaporator fan has failed again, and the ice maker has failed again. Gone are the days when you could depend on a major appliance to last 15 years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It fits!

We had this same model for the past 10 years and, when it failed, we worried that no other would fit our space. (Our kitchen was custom built around the fridge by the original homeowners in the 80s). Manufacturers make refrigerators so big these days!
We were thrilled to find the same fridge still available, in stock, and with same day installation.
My only complaint is that the body remains the same, fitting exactly in the same snug space, but the interior is somehow smaller. A dozen eggs doesn't fit inside the egg shelf in the door! Why would they not test that?

An OK refrigerator for its size

Unfortunately, my kitchen was designed 30 years ago, leaving a limited space for a refrigerator/freezer. At the time, I had an ordinary top freezer model, around 19 cu.ft. When that broke after quite some time, I switched to this side-by-side model which is adequate and fit into the space. Unfortunately,I have a cabinet above and drawers next to the refrigerator, so I am totally limited. I would love a French door model or a larger side-by-side, higher quality, but there are none available. Tomorrow I will receive my third iteration of this exact same refrigerator. This one lasted ten years. It's adequate. Can't believe it comes in black but not stainless steel. It's OK but nothing special.

Great Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a replacement fridge for the one I had for 13 yrs which was a GE and is still working. made the old one a shop fridge and new one to go with the new flooring I had done. I only use GE appliances. They are dependable and long lasting.

Within 6 mo the water filter needed replacement and the part was no longer available. The recommended alternate filter could not be inserted (after a cost of $50). After 3 years the icemaker quit working.

I purchased the unit in February 2014, the only issue I have is that it makes a strange squeaky noise when it cycles. The price of the unit is very high for this smaller fridge but the only one that fits in my levittowner.

Not very good I have a small space so this was my only option. For the price no water filtration. Service been out with in a month can't fix it so now getting another one. If you have a small space seriously just get a normal top and bottom

Easy to use and Simple Fridge

I think this is a simple and easy to use refrigerator/freezer. I just wish it was a lot bigger. It is too small. I would recommend those that have a small home or small apartment this refrigerator. For families of four, I would recommend a bigger GE refrigerator so the meat can fit easily in the fridge, as well as the rest of the food.
