The QL-500 has been a Workhorse

We purchased the Ql-500 a few years ago, and have used it continuously since. With the exception of replacing labels and updating the software, it has never needed attention of any kind. We turn it on, type a label in the software, hit print, and we have a new label in about 5 seconds. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to print custom labels, bar-codes, or any number of other types of items. In our picture framing business we print labels for our artist clients who place them on the back of the art to serve as identification of the art and the artist.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Previously I used sheets and sheets of Avery labels and now... OMG I am so, so happy with this labeler from Brother, it does summer-salts over Avery!

Some drawbacks

I've had this printer for a couple of years. It usually does a nice job, but recently one of the labels got stuck in the roller and now the printer is unusable. There is no way to get that sticky label out because the roller is not removable. I was told by Brother to use a business card to try to pry it out, but it doesn't budge. I had to buy a new labeler because I was using up too much precious time trying to scrape that label out of the machine.
Additionally, I tried many many times to update the software, and each time it didn't work and I had to reinstall the old.
I just bought a Brother QL-700. I'm hoping I have better luck with this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is great label maker. It allows you to create many different label types, its easy to use and the results look entirely professional. Great buy for a great price for a great machine.
