OK, but starting to fail

I've had this hub for about 1 1/2 years. For a powered hub that only offers 4 usb connections, it's pretty expensive. Recent one of the connections stopped transferring data though it's still, curiously enough, suppling power. Unfortunately I need 4 reliable connections so I'll have to buy a new USB hub. Given that I paid a fair amount for this unit and assumed that by doing so I would be getting a premium product, it's unlikely I will buy a Belkin hub again.

Plugged it in my Macbook Pro. Doesn't work. Nothing. Nada. I had to revert back to my 8+ year old hub so I can use my old mouse.

Hi, martinez,
The USB hub should be plug and play for your MacBook Pro. You may have a defective unit. Get in touch with us at BelkinCares@belkin.com so that we can have our Senior Technicians verify this. Don't forget to include the link to this post for our reference.
We hope to hear from you soon.

2nd cable?
on July 24, 2017

it would be nice to have a users manual with the product to explain what the 2nd cable (the one with USB instead of a plug) does. What does it do? Not even this page explains it, but at least it charges our Iphones and IPads...
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin, Customer Support, July 27, 2017
Hi, Mats,
We value your feedback and rest assured this will be shared with our Marketing team. The 3 ft. USB 3.0 cable should be used to connect the hub to the computer and the other cable for for connecting the product to the power outlet. Let us know if you have further inquiries about the product by emailing us at BelkinCares@belkin.com.

I guess you get what you pay for. Will not charge my Go Pro Hero 7. Works Okay for iPhone though.
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin, Customer Support, January 6, 2019
Hi Steve,
The 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub was only tested to charge smartphones, but it was not tested to charge Go Pro devices. We've taken note of this feedback and we'll make sure to inform our Development Team regarding this matter. Should you have other things to share, feel free to e-mail us at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your complete contact details and the link to this review for our reference.

Needs reset to use USB-3
on June 24, 2018

While this hub works fine as a USB-2 Hub every time I want to use it as a USB-3 Hub I've got to reset it by discinnecting from the computer and then reconnecting it.
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin , Customer Support, June 24, 2018
Hello, herbs,
The Belkin hub shouldn't behave that way as it's specifically designed to work with USB 3.0 peripherals. To isolate this case, please try to use a different USB 3.0 cable and email us at BelkinCares@belkin.com the result so we can get you over to our Product Experts. Include your phone number and the link to this review for easy reference.

More limited than it says

It says it won’t charge a tablet, but it also won’t run a SuperDrive, which apparently is true of most hubs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unnecessarily complicated

While I understand the need to charge the port in order for *it* to charge other things, it seems it also needs t o be charged for the simple task of connecting a USB memory stick to the computer. This makes no sense as it is supposed to also serve as a mere adaptor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin, Customer Support, May 27, 2019
Hi, Chenc,
That shouldn't be the case as the Hub will work fine even without using the power adapter. Get in touch with us at BelkinCares@belkin.com so we can look into this. Indicate the make and model of the USB storage, your contact information and a link to this review for reference when you reach out.
