HP hits the mark Again!

This printer is exactly what I wanted.
It was easy for me to set up - even wireless - and the print quality is better than any HP printer I've previously owned. I love the duplexing feature and would only improve it with a phone handset - but that is fixed by having a phone outlet to plug my landline into.
I love having the 4 X 6 photo spot and I think you can load envelopes in that spot if you wanted to. (haven't actually tired that yet).
Overall, I am very pleased. I passed my HP 2100 on to my daughter and still have an HP 5550 downstairs. Thanks, HP for the quality products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

COMPLETELY AWESOME PRODUCT AND PRICE POINT !!

I just purchased my new HP C7280 all-in-one and cannot wait to utilize the new design features !! I presently own the HP 2610 all-in-one and the ONLY complaint I have therein is the necessity to fax or copy one page at a time. This can be most disconcerting when faxing, say, a 40-page document to co-counsel - not to mention if one should happen to inadvertently be scanning in and overload the memory. Then one must start over from scratch. *UGH* Nonetheless, I am forthwith brimming with anticipation of putting my new C7280 through its paces !! The new design is outstanding !! It's stylish and professional-looking at the same time, having all the "bells and whistles" for which one could ask - and for under $340 ?!?!? (Shipping, full-size ink cartridges and applicable tax included.) Now THAT is an extremely wise move on both HP's design, marketing and sales divisions, as well as the consumer(s). BUY THIS PRODUCT TODAY !!!
I cannot say at this juncture that I can actually part with my 2610 since it has been SO dependable, easy to use (with that one little hitch aforesaid - lol) and I'm actually measuring now to see if it can "nest" right next to my C7280 for an unexpected "blizzard" of printing necessities.
Actually, I just had a thought.... Why not "nest" as stated and restore old photos, print new ones, etc... while working and faxing, copying and/or printing concurrently? One could easily fall in love with HP ! LOL Can one actually do that with a corporation? I believe it to be time to purchase shares. I'll phone my broker after I install my new software and router !
Thanks, guys !!

Not worth the Money

When printing word documents the quality is aweful. My old 10 yr old deskjet looks nicer than the text on this machine. Waste of my time returning it. Also its very slow - Click print and it takes forever to finally print using wireless. Click print and wait 5 minutes. Main disaapointment was quality of black text.

C7280 performance

I've had my 7280 for nearly two months now and I have tried every feature except OCR. So, let's get directly to comments by category.
PRINT QUALITY: HP has some of the finest printers on the market and this model is no exception. 8.5x11 borderless prints are fantastic. You MUST match printer setup with HP paper type to get the best results. Ilford paper is also excellent.
WIRED CONNECTION: Tried it and it works well on a gigabit ethernet.
BLUETOOTH CONNECTION: Works from my phone, but why would you want to do that? Yes, it does work with my computer too, but I'd rather not tie up that bandwidth with printing -it's slow.
WIRELESS CONNECTION: DO lock you IP address, that will help. WPA and WEP both work without issues (stay with WPA). People have mentioned how slow the printer is, and I don't find that at all. Test this by printing a photo and in Windows Preferences for the printer, select "show preview" before printing. This will let you know exactly how much time is spent by the computer to render the photo PRIOR to sending it to the printer. I can tell you slower rendering is due to computer clock speed, and NOT due to wireless printer connection. On a 802.11g (or b) connection, the printer starts nearly instantly after clicking "continue print" from the preview. Try this, you'll see how slow your computer is and not the printer interface. Yes, it has been reported that the wireless connection drops out occasionally, and I have had this issue as well. I ignore those balloons because when I hit "print" it has always been connected. If we could only get Windows to ignore the disconnect. Since my goal is to have an entirely wireless house, so far I am on track and this printer fits right in line. It is too bad HP doesn't include wireless connect on all of their printers.
USB CONNECTION: worked
SOFTWARE: It's not the greatest, but it does allow you to access all of the features of the printer/scanner/fax/copier. When VISTA recognizes the printer is turned off, a driver failure occurs, giving a splash screen asking if you want to quit?
FAX: works, what else is there to say?
COPY: works well. I don't like the photo copy feature, but I am sure it is because I am very critical about how my photos look. For someone who is less critical, it is just fine.
SCAN: I have had no interface problems with this at all.
SETUP: I read all the previous comments and decided to try HPs directions. IF you are prudent when you setup, meaning not running other software at the same time, not surfing the net, etc. AND you completely reboot your computer right after install, it should work well. All I can say is it worked well for me (VAIO, 3.2Ghz, 2GbRAM, 200GbHD running VISTA Ultimate; and a very old Shuttle Windows XP-SP2).
CONS: Ink cartridges are very easy to change, and I guarantee you'll be doing a lot of this if you print any amount of photos. The color cartridges contain ~2mls and that isn't much. I would really like to see a larger volume cartridge produced (more cost obviously, but at least you wouldn't be sending back a ton of used cartridges!) DO use HP recycle containers.
MY RECOMMENDATION: Buy it, you won't be dissatisfied and this is only MY opinion - not even worth the electrons to show it to you -;)
I would recommend this to a friend!

No Fan
on July 30, 2008

I was a BIG HP fan before I purchased the C7280 Photosmart. This has to be the worst all-in-one I have owned. I have had driver issues from day one. I have install & uninstall the drivers many a times. It still ask me to install the disk because the installation has not completed. It's not a simple machine to operate.

I like the C7280 All-in-one because it works. I have owned this model for almost a year and have not had one paper jam, missed fax, scan, or copy. What else can you ask from this machine?

Frustrated

I
purchased this printer for the ability to access it wirelessly. I
tookthe first one back because I could not make it work consistently
via the wireless application. I took it back and got another of the
same model and took it back also for the same reason. It seems as if
there may be something wrong with the software that comes with it. I
ended up with the Photosmart C6180 and it works very well.
