generally a good home printer

I purchased this printer to replace an old HP 6L, Photosmart 7550 and fax machine over 6 months ago. The goal was to reduce the foot print of all the devices and consolidate. I was looking at the officejet 7780 too but decided against it since it wasn't on sale. I got this one on sale with free shipping.
1. fax machine - standard nothing fancy,
2. scanner - decent but it should handle legal paper too.
3. photo printer - color of the pictures are off if you do not use HP paper; if you use HP paper, the color is good. I never had this issue using non-HP photo paper on the HP7550.
4. WIRELESS - can I say it was easy to set up and I love it!
5. Installation - i didn't have a problem after reading all the problems people had with using the supplied software. I downloaded teh latest version from the site and manually installed only the components I wanted. I recommend this as this software is bloated.
6. HP needs to fix the driver for this printer - I like to print duplex - yes trying to be Green. The driver has a bug in it because a message box pops up saying the duplexer isn't installed. I've gone through all the options on the HP tech forums and the help desk wasn't helpful. Just click print and it will print in duplex.
7. print quality - i'm not to thrilled with it. I expected much more crisp printing but I am comparing it to a laserjet. Print can be much sharper. I use my old laserjet for better quality print.
Overall, a decent printer home printer. Yes, some things can be improved however it meets the needs for a home office printer without breaking the bank.

C7280 All-in-One Good product for me!

Have had the printer for a couple of months now and it has performed great. Using the wireless setup with two desktops running Vista 64 bit and one desktop running XP 32 bit. Printer excepts print from all three. Love the duplex printing, hopefully HP will fix the message that says duplexing is not available. The print quality is fine for me since I did not purchase it to print a lot of photos. Prints fast enough for my purposes and has more options than I will ever use. Overall it has been a great product so far.

Bitter Sweet/Get the Service Contract!

Love the features of this unit, but have had a lot of problems. Sheet feeder feeds multiple sheets. Replaced the unit in warranty. Wouldn't connect wirelessly but Tech Help solved the problem. Put in new ink cartridge and the unit failed, having it replaced. Get the Service Contract. I also like the upgrade feature. If the unit fails you can upgrade to a newer unit or replace the same at a better price. It keeps you coming back.

You can't go wrong with the C7280

This is my 8th HP printer, my 4th all in one, for the money you could not do better. I am talking about mostly home use as it is not made for an office load. It is very simple to operate, very fast and the "buttons" on the front make it very, very easy to do whatever you want. It is not a $500.00 machine, less then half of that and I defy you to get anywhere near double the usage for double the money. I love the operation window on the front, pay attention and you can't go wrong. Try it you'll love it.

great printer- slow software install

I just picked up this printer yesterday to solve a problem of not being able to share my wife's printer since she now has to use a VPN at work. I was a little worried when I found out that you could not use both wired and wireless ethernet at the same time. This was not the case however with using USB...whew!
The printer install went very well on most of my home machines which is a mix of windows and mac. The only machine that did have problems was my work machine that has a corp. controlled firewall that I cannot turn off. The only downside so far is the software install time. Count on 20 minutes per machine. You have to install the package on each box.
Duplex printing works great. No issues with print quality. the times to scan in documents is pretty slow however. Do not have a handle on cartridge life yet, but the individual tanks for each color should help. I hate trowing out a color cartridge that has 3/4 red and yellow left, but bone dry on blue.
My last printer was a HP6310 which continues to serve me well as an upstairs printer. My wife KILLS printers with the work she does and in my experience, the hp units are the only ink-jets that hold up.

Very Well Pleased With This Product!

After having a Brother all-in-one machine for the past few years and never having good print quality and having to replace the ink heads several different times I decided to switch to Hewlett Packard. Not only does this machine have a designer style and look it has superior quality of printing. The printer is very versatile as far as different types of things you want to print. If you want to print something real quick you have options such as fast/economical. Or you can print photos that truly look just like lab quality ones. No matter what style you choose the lines are crisp and there's no smearing or smudging. The fax machines built in is a big plus too. I love this machine and already have people coming over to use it!

The C7280...The Best In Show!
on April 17, 2008
Posted by: eqwest
I have had an extensive experience with HP products (Printers espcially). I was forced to get another printer when my PS2210 went down. My search began for new printer that would be able to handle my work load. I extensively compared the three top wireless printers currently offered by HP. First, the L7780; Second, the J6480; and Finally, the C7280. My conclusion were as follows: there seemed to be many problems with the L7780. People have been complaining about a paper tray issue and a hardware issue. Both of which are not good if you are purchasing a brand new printer. Which leaves the J6840. This printer in my opinion is probably the only printer that can rival the C7280. If you were to compare the two you would notice that they are pratcially identical in terms of what they do. The main difference comes down to faxing and the duty cycle, in which the J6480 has a greater one to the C7280. However, what the C7280 lacks in these features, it makes up in other features like Bluetotth technology, PICTBRIDGE, and 2.4" LCD screen. Not to mention this printer has blazing speeds (probably HP's fastest Photosmart printer) and it's smaller. If you plan to do any Photo editing with this printer, you can't ever go wrong with a photosmart. In addition to this, it is the cheaper of the three so it is easy to see that the choice would be the C7280. It's almost a no brainer. My only complaint with it is that it doesn't have a Legal size Flatbed scanner like the L7880. But it makes up for that oversight with so many other features that you don't even miss it. GET IT...TRY IT...and you will see why it is THE BEST IN SHOW!
