Broken within 2 months of purchase

I bought my Breville kettle in December 2021. Almost immediately i noticed that the on button would occasionally switch off mid-boil, requiring you to press it again to complete the boil (once you'd actually noticed it had turned off). As time has gone on, this has only become more frequent and more frustrating in turn. To complete a boil, it now requires re-pressing the button 2-3 times consistently. Really annoying to have such a basic fault on what is a premium product of its kind on the market. Truly infuriating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Loved it, Now Cautious

This was a gift in Nov. 2015. I loved it for years!
Then, starting in 2020, it won't stop boiling (happens 1-2x a month) and the stainless steel bottom has begun to corrode. There are metal flakes in the water - they're being caught by the filter when pouring, but I'm afraid some of the flakes may get through.
It was a great product until last year, but have to retire it. I thought the Breville name would last a lot longer than 5 years. :(

Won't stop boiling, lid pops open

We purchased the BKE595XL late Dec. 2017. More than a year ago the auto shutoff after boiling stopped working. I.e. five minutes after the water boils vigorously, the unit is still on with the water boiling. More recently, when opening the lid, the lid pops open rather than opening slowing. We have decided this appliance has become dangerous. I give two stars because it worked great for a couple years.

Lid pops open during boiling

Love the design and speed of boiling, but now the product became a fire danger. This is our second kettle with the same problem. After about 2 years of use, the plastic parts in the lid break and during boiling, the steam forces the lid to open and the boiling process never stops. If not watched, water evaporates and this becomes a fire hazard. We saw this problem with 2 kettles. Terrible design flaw.

Expensive junk

Handle cracked partially off after about six months so now the lid wont stay shut and it doesn't switch off once boiled. It is big but there's only two of us so we rarely fill it.

Do NOT purchase

This kettle works fine for the first few times and then the shut off switch stops working so it boils continuously. Then the kettle will just stop working all together. Do not waste your money. Wasteful.

Glass Cracked

Bought this a couple years ago and use this minimally and it just cracked down the side while boiling water. Could have been super dangerous if children were nearby with boiling water going everywhere.

Great kettle but the lid really fails

Same as many other reviewers, I love the kettle and it’s very good looking but the lid failed on us after less than 2 years use, the push down pop up lid function stopped working and the lid needs to be manually pryed open.
