It took a little bit of getting used to, but this toothbrush works well. I had another electric toothbrush, but it really didn't clean my teeth as well as the Philips.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A high quality product, but I liked the Elite model better

The Sonicare Essence is a good toothbrush overall, very similar to the Elite we used for years, but does not include the timing feature that the Elite had (a beep every 30 seconds to prompt you on to another section of your teeth). I could never go back to using a manual toothbrush now that I have experienced how clean my teeth can be with a Sonicare.
Pros: cleans teeth very well
Cons: no time prompt feature

Difficult transition to an electric toothbrush.

I do not like the timer on this tooth brush. I would prefer to have a tooth brush where I could set my own times. The design is fine, it is easy to use. But I would also prefer to set the speeds as well. I do not like it just having an on off switch. Would prefer if it had a sliding mechanism for changing the speed. So during a brushing you could start slower and increase it. I did like the way it was designed to speed up over time, that was a good feature.
Pros: like the way it gradually progressed to full speed
Cons: wish it would allow me to pick a speed, wish i could pick timer length
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am very pleased with my Sonicare Essence Rechargeable Toothbrush. It's easy to use and does a great job on my teeth. I would certainly recommend it, especially for anyone interested in going to an electric toothbrush.
