Great brush, but hard to keep clean.

This brush makes it easy to keep teeth and gums clean and healthy. Unfortunately, the older brush head design traps moisture where the head screws on, and must be taken apart and cleaned with cotton swabs and alcohol regularly, or sludge gathers underneath it. I understand that the newer head design has fixed this problem, but it costs more.
Pros: great for keeping teeth and gums healthy.
Cons: hard to keep head attachment clean.

This is the second Phillips Sonicare tooth brush I have purchased in the past 3 years. The first one battery went out and was much bulkier than the new one.
Pros: ease of use and efficient brushing
Cons: size could be reduced to make it more ergonomics

Prefer the "Elite" over the "Essence"

The "essence" handle is bulky and somewhat awkward to use. Both the "essence and the "elite" have design issues with the on/off button. The plastic/rubber cover on the button wears out well before the rest of the handle. I have spoken with other users of the Sonicare and all have reported the same issue. Other than design issues, the Sonicare is truly the best dental device I have ever owned (guess I should have put this first), but you wanted an honest opinion.
Pros: cleaning, dentist loves it
Cons: on/off button
