I have been using them for over 20 years. They last about 4 to 5 years and must be replace because of the batteries. There is no way to replace them. I use one for me and one for my wife. The last one purchased was defective and was replaced quickly with no hassle.

I really enjoy my Sonicare toothbrush. My teeth feel cleaner when I use this as apposed to other manual toothbrushes.
Have used Phillips for years and would not even consider using any other. Makes me feel as tho I have just returned from the dentist having my teeth cleaned.
Pros: makes teeth feel squeaky clean.
Cons: haven't found any

This product has proven to be great at removing unsightly plaque that is normally left behind by traditional toothbrushes. The vibration of the Sonicare leaves my mouth and gums feeling revitalized and stimulated. I have found that with the daily use of this product there is a breach in the seal where the brush head is fastened to the body. This allows for undetected amounts of water to be left behind after the two minute brushing experience. I follow the instruction manual every time I use this and clean between the head, and body separating the brush head as well. Unfortunately this is where I found the design to be slightly flawed and I am unsure if this is due to the tremendous speeds this brush operates at or another factor I am but unaware of. I have no product design experience but I am just a customer informing you of my trial. In any case I have found it most difficult to prevent this water from getting into the head crevice and below the threads where the body screws into the head. This water is increasingly difficult to dry as well with any reusable cloth found in a wash room. This produces a musty and foul mildew smell that is reminder to the customer every time they choose to brush. Other than the apparent issue I would highly recommend your brush and am intrigued by your groundbreaking design in the dental care industry it is a great product but has a chance to become better. Thank you for listening and I hope this is informative to some body out there.
Sincerely, Brandon McKeown
Pros: great clean mouth feeling!, timer is a great addition.
Cons: mentioned above.

This is the first electric toothbrush I have ever owned

I find there are areas that remain wet and contain run off from the bristles. Unless you remove the head to clean it with a q-tip frequently, it builds up and looks and is unsanitary.
Also I find the brush itself is to small and straight to brush behind the front top and bottom teeth. The angle of the bristles could be improved.
Pros: love that it does the brushing for me, add a pro
Cons: difficult to keep clean after each brushing, add a con

Every nook and cranny gets funky from daily use. Residue from the tooth paste gets inside and if not cleaned often, it is really funky. I realized this when I took it apart after a few weeks and yuk!
Pros: keeps my teeth really clean and white.
Cons: seamless = no funky build-up, needs a better design to keep out moisture et al.

Sometimes when I travel and the base unit isn't charged when I arrive, I have to use a manual toothbrush, and I don't feel like I do an adequate job of cleaning my teeth, compared to the Sonicare. The only other thing I would recommend is getting a model with a quad pacer timer. I didn't check to see if my current model had one, which it did not, and I miss that feature which I had on a previous model.
