Lid or top door does not fit tightly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worst point of this unit is it's door,it has a very loose fit.A very small child can easily open it.I know the unit's door has a lock but it still has too much play in it. A loose fit like this can allow cold air loss.Because of this I keep a heavy object on the lid at all times.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GE chest freezer is an excellent unit. It pulled down to temperature within an hour of start up. The freezer baskets it came with are sturdy and made of plastic, so I don't anticipate any corrosion issues. The delivery was easy, and the two technicians who brought it in and set in place were very capable and pleasant. This freezer is really nice.

Too narrow and deep

The design is narrower from front to back than my previous freezer which means to get the same cubic inches the freezer has to be deeper. While this may be slightly more energy efficient the savings is lost having the lid open for a much longer time just trying to access the now much more difficult to access items. My complaint isn't with the energy efficiency, it's with the difficulty of accessing items because of the depth and narrowness of freezer. Also the baskets are difficult to remove if they are tight against each other because there is no place to get a hold of them besides the slotted openings which are too painful on the fingers. And when my freezer is packed full, which it is most of the time, it's most convenient to have the baskets next to one another for space efficiency. I will not purchase a freezer with these deep and narrow dimensions again. It also needs defrosting at least two to three times a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The lower Baskets

So far this freezer has met our expectations and then some. We like the fact that it has both upper baskets and lower baskets so that we can separate different items and know right where they are. The old freezer didn't have this feature.
