Mainly used for watching PBS/PBS Kids & Amazon Prime, but there are quite a few channel selections available. Would be nice if they could work out licensing issues with YouTube and other popular social video sharing sites. Overall it seems to be a great product, easy to use, good content. We've been extremely happy with ours and would recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to cable. Not quite ready for hard core TV/Cable customers that are looking to cut the cord. But it's a great solution for movie rental and if your channels are supported.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Good selection of content, Amazon Prime, Pbs, Netflix
Cons: No Youtube Legal Issues, No youtube, No Youtube - Legal Issues, YouTube
I would recommend this to a friend!

My Roku is giving me the best of experience. Streams very well. With so much movies, and sometimes live games, there is always something to watch. The only thing I would love to be improved on Roku is to add local channels and major news networks like BBC, Aljazera and CNN.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: No Much Of Live News, Minimal Live News
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this to use in my bedroom to watch Amazon Video because my blu-ray player did not have that app but I got so much more! PBS, Crackle, too many to list! I think I need another one for my living room. I love my Roku3!

I have to a great extent replaced cable service with Roku. I have been increasingly disenchanted with cable television over the past several years. I visited a relative a few months ago who had replaced cable service with Roku, (and highly recommended this move) so I decided to do the same. So far I find the service has been easy to use and the few problems I encountered were responded to by Roku's support staff with far less bother and upset to me than I have encountered with any other online support I've encountered in the past. I can recommend this service wholeheartedly. I can now get and pay for what I want to watch and don't have to pay for all the things I don't want just to see the things I do want to see.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Excellent Timely Support
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this because I wanted to get internet streaming. I wanted to get Italian shows from YouTube. CNET says ROKU is great and noted that it has no You Tube channel. I didn't know that you couldn't browse and get YouTube. I thought that ROKU gave you access to the internet. So I bought it, and a HDMI splitter because my TV has only one HDMI input, and two HDMI cables. Total cost over $200. It took over two hours to get set up, mostly waiting for a chat representative. Once I got someone to talk to, who was very nice and extremely competent, I got going right away. It works great, but I soon learned that you are limited to what ROKU offers. You cannot browse the internet. What they offer is NetFlix and a bunch of stuff I have no interest in, especially not at additional cost. I will watch SkyNews, but I would not have bought this had I known the limitations. I want Italian programs. There are international channels, but nothing Italian. And worst of all, no YouTube. I can get Italian programs on You Tube. The Google Chromecast will have NetFlix and YouTube for $35. No splitter or cables needed. So $200 for much less than I expected versus $35 for everything I wanted. I made a bad decision. I should taken the time to get better informed. The CNET description is misleading. It should make cleat that no YouTube Channel means no YouTube at all. I should have waited until Chromecast is available. I wish I hadn't bought this. I'm going to keep it, it does what it does quite well. But I am very disappointed.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: Difficult setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This puts me one step closer to "cutting the cable". If could get ESPN or the Golf Channel that would do it!
