Works Great, Most of the Time

Use this almost every day. Navigation is fast and easy. Many TV sources. But, crashes and restarts about once a week. Netflix hangs up often but not sure if that's related to roku. Amazon works the best (and Hulu maybe...don't use as much).
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: Crashes sometimes

We bought this primarily to watch streaming Netflix. We are happy with the product. It is a major improvement over our old Roku, one of the originals.
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Can Use Headphones, Attractive Design, Subtitles on netflix, Improved Audio/Video

Well-designed streaming player

I was looking for a way to stream videos I'd downloaded to our HDTV. If I had an apple household, I would have considered AppleTV more I think but Roku works equally well between platforms and works well with Plex. The Netflix and Amazon video subscriptions we already own work really nicely too (we were using a Nintendo Wii before for Netflix and it was very awkward and laggy). What I like: It loads quickly, it has 1080p HDMI, and it's inexpensive. I saw the older version for around $60 but the reputed faster processor on the Roku3 and choice of wired/wireless (in case we had wireless issues) made me want the new one.
Pros: Stream From Computer, Low power usage, Wireless Or Wired Option, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Small Footprint

Our family was early to go unplugged, (cord-cutters). We will never go back to $100 plus TV service. This is our third Roku. Couldn't be better, everything cool on TV can be found on the Roku3. The remote headphone jack is Awsome for late night TV watching. Save yourself over $1000 dollars next year. Buy this and subscribe to only what you watch. Roku3 plus a regular antenna TV(yes they still work,it's free, and in HDTV) is the best investment. Give yourself a raise. You can also photo stream photos from phones and tablets wirelessly.

SO MUCH AWESOME

This little guy is amazing. I'll start with the feature we love the most. The headphone/Audio jack built RIGHT into the controller! We have a small rental and a 3 year old. We couldn't really watch Netflix or anything after she was in bed because the noise would keep her up. NOW, we just plug a set of headphones in and we're good to go! It's been so great for the wife and I to watch movies together (by using a splitter for 2 sets of headphones) after the kiddo is asleep. Moving on, Setup was so easy it was crazy. Plug the power in, use the remote to connect to your wifi, use the computer to activate it, You're good to go! We don't have cable TV, just the internet, so being able to stream our content was super important. We previously only had a Wii, so Netflix was originally what we were stuck with. With the Roku, we can stream our Netflix and Amazon Prime, as well as having easy living room access to News, Sports, Radio, EVERYTHING! We can put movies/photo files onto a USB hard-drive and plug it right into the side as well. It's literally about the size of a hockey puck, so hiding it behind the TV was a snap! NOTE: The Roku3 NEEDS an HDMI port on your TV to plug into, however you can get HDMI to Component converters on Amazon so that's easy to get around if you have an older TV set. Bought it, Love it, Get one!
