So great to have pandora and spotify on while cleaning the house and then can switch on netflix, hulu or HBO Go that night! So many awesome stations, really easy to use

Get the apple tv

I have a Apple TV and decided to buy the roku for my gym TV to stream netflix and HBO go. The roku is difficult to set up and not user friendly. There is no option to turn it off which is highly annoying regardless of how "little" power it uses. Once you type in the 27 codes from your computer and register your first born you are ready to go. The Netflix app works fine. However the main reason I chose roku over apple was HBO app and amazon prime. The HBO app is complete garbage. It takes several minutes to load and then after about 30 seconds of playing it takes another several minutes to load. Apparently the HBO server can't handle the load. For the same price I would hands down go with Apple TV. It is much easier to use and a true plug and play device. Oh, and you can turn it off when your done instead of just wasting a "little" bit of electricity.
Pros: Netflix Streams Fine
Cons: Not Able To Turn Off, Not User Friendly, Hbo Go App Is Useless
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Roku 3 is the best video streamer device I have owned or tried. Video and audio performance is excellent, noticeably better than Roku 2 which surprised me. I mainly use the movie and TV show channels (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Vudu, Crackle, etc.) but the channel store does offer variety. If you are looking to cut the cord, Roku 3 will make it much easier to do.

It's important to get registered online. You can look for new channels to add, beta channels, and private channels. Tons to choose from.

Our first foray into streaming

We ditched cable for Roku 3. It was easy to adapt to, and little performance issues along the way have been easily fixed with a quick internet search. We are happy with this choice, and we are going on 8 months of use.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video, Headphone Capable, Simple Controls
Cons: Remote Drains Batteries
