I had the original N1000 Roku and really loved it (still do, but on guest bedroom TV now). There are several aspects that makes the new Roku 3 a winner. The first is the speed/responsiveness of the device to remote control instructions; everything is instantaneous and definitely an improvement from the original. I like the interface much better. The other major improvement is the audio on the remote. I use this device on my bedroom TV. I like to watch TV at night when my wife is sleeping. She doesn't want to hear the TV, so I put earphones in and I can hear great via headphones. I think this is the single best plus for the new device. I primarily watch Netflix and Amazon Instant Prime programming, but also enjoy shows from Revision3 and TWiT. I could watch all this before on my N1000, but I didn't get Closed Captioning on Netflix or Amazon like I do now. A few months after purchasing Roku 3, I won an AppleTV from Pepsi on their Iconic Summer promotion. It is cool, but I have a few complaints on the AppleTV in comparison with Roku 3. Like many Apple products, its simplicity can be a frustration to power users; my TV "technically" supports 1080p60 but with screen artifacts; because of this, I can not force it to a lesser setting that does not create artifacts. The AppleTV also does not support Amazon Instant, about 40% of my streaming source. While I like the AppleTV, it is definitely no Roku 3!

I love this thing! The ear bud jack on the remote is the greatest thing since TVs got color!

When searching for a show, it would be great if it could tell you which of the options it comes up with are free vs. paid. EG - a show might be free on Netflix (assuming you subscribe) but cost on Amazon (even if you're a prime member). It would be nice to know in the search if it costs money and how much without having to go into a specific channel. That said - I love it. It works a million times better than the previous device I used for streaming (a gaming system). I love that it's a one time cost to buy the Roku and not a monthly fee. I love how simple it was to set up and use. It works every time and it gives me no trouble. I only wish I'd gotten one sooner. I convinced a friend to buy one already and they love it too.

I use this product for streaming and some unique channels. The only downside I can find is the following: I also have DISH in my room. It is on a transmitter from the main receiver. My ROKU causes much interferience that can only be stopped by unplugging it (ROKU). I have tried moving it and nothing helps. Other than that, I have found no problems/concerns with this product. I got exactly what I bought and was described when I purchased.
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Many Usable Areas
Cons: Many Svcs Not Available

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Does whatch you would want out of it, except play youtube videos. The headphone jack is the best feature.
