We don't even need cable anymore

Roku has many great features. We don't need the cable anymore, just watch shows from Hulu, Netflix, etc. I love to be able to play Pandora with it while I'm house cleaning :-). My wish list: that we could access HBO without having to have cable, and that there were an easier way to enter names it's very slow clicking on the letters.
Pros: Lots of channel options, Fast Setup, Economical, Easy To Scroll Through
Cons: Entering Title Cumbersome

Perfect for Cable Haters

The device itself is perfect at this point. The speed is amazing and the channels keep getting better and better. I mainly watch Hulu, Amazon Instant, and Netflix -- all of which come in with amazing clarity. The menu selection is quick. I also watch some original channels like GaiamTV and Newsy. It is nice to be able to watch this kind of stuff on actual TV. The headphone jack works great when my wife doesn't want to watch TV, even when there is too much noise in our apartment building.

I would buy thing product again

To my knowledge the Ruku 3 is the only device that offers the remote headset and volume control option. I can watch a movie/show on my big screen while my wife enjoys her surround sound music system. We now enjoy our favorite entertainments together in one room. She on her headset and I on my earphones. Oh, the neighbors and pets also appreciate the silence. Well worth a C note!

Soo close to perfect

The Roku 3 is almost as good as a well-designed DVD player plus the benefit of playing HD. It makes us reconsider the extra cost of a second Tivo box, which carries its own monthly fee as well as the cost of an extra cable card. I can play videos stored on the computer downstairs on the TV with the Roku upstairs. I can play videos stored on a USB drive. Quality is excellent. My only complaint is about fast forward - it only lets you navigate to a specific time and doesn't let you watch the material as you skip ahead. Hey, I know the advertisers don't like it, but that's too bad - it's useful for lots of things beyond skipping ads. At the very least, the non-advertising channels should allow it even if it doesn't work on advertising-sponsored channels.

Cons: Feeble Fast Forward, No Repeat Play, No Fast Forward Ever

Wins for Ease of Use

In my opinion, as a stand-alone box the Roku 3 (or any other Roku) doesn't have nearly enough capability to function as a cable/satellite replacement, which is what I wanted: stand-alone, it's simply another way to surf movies and TV shows. On the other hand, with a computer running Plex and Playon in the background, it's extremely capable of killing cable/satellite. The simple remote, with the new 2-D interface, really does make it as simple as possible to use.

Cons: Limited capability

A great improvement

A wonderful improvement over the previous versions of Roku but a few features have been sacrificed that make it less user-friendly. For instance, the home key goes back to the choice of channels rather than going back to the home page of the channel you were on, so you have to reselect the channel every time. Also, if you turn on the subtitles for a movie in a foreign language, they stay on even for movies in English--you have to turn them off every time.
