I mostly use this device for movies the interface could be better & a lot of channels where made poorly with a lot of them especially tech channels update slow with new information. For instance if I look at my phone & open ign I'm brought up to speed with everything on ign Roku. channel I'm still looking at info from 2 or 3 days ago sometimes weeks. Mostly all they channels on here where made with no thought they look like they were all just thrown on here. Theres a lot of channels but what's the use if they don't offer quality
Cons: Channels Info Are Old, Does Not Improve Audio/Video, Channels Updates Slow, Channel Designs Are Poor

A Good Place to Start Streaming

I mainly got this product to explore if streaming video was good enough to get rid of Comcast and its high fees. Got the unit free using Discover Reward Points through Amazon.com so nothing lost there. Its much easier to use and more reliable than Comcast On Demand. Mainly use it for movies and nightly news the next day using Netflix and HuluPlus. Conclusion, Good but don't unplug the cable yet, needs more widely appealing content

Cons: No off switch

Good product for your money

I use the product primarily for movies and watching shows. I really would love for this device to be good at games but it is no where ready for gaming even if it has Angry Birds. This system is a bit faster but other than that no real major upgrade. The easy simple setup is now gone and replaced with a much more involved process that can be a bit annoying if your just wanting to connect and watch. I think unless the Roku developers can step it up they will be left behind. I already have been looking at replacements as my kids love watching Netflix but now any device can do that. The channels are okay but clearly a lot of junk. Now the new devices come preloaded with android jellybean and are busted wide open to play all video types, connect to the market, comes with an actual KEYBOARD which after so many models you would think Roku would be on top of this. Using a cell phone is a nice touch but once again all new devices have this feature. I also really dislike the show password feature and wish it could be locked. I have a certain network used solely for Roku but my kids easily get the password from it and go on an internet spree

Easy for a beginner....

I heard about it on the radio and figured it might be something to try. It was so easy to set up esp for a non techo bunch like us and easy to use too.. There are so may options on it that are free so you are not limited to getting subscriptions to everything in order to have something to watch.
Pros: Simple Controls, Very easy to set up, Fast Setup

Roku 3 is great. The streaming quality has been excellent. I use it for Hulu, Amazon, Vevo, Weather, News, everything I can. I have not had cable in over 4 years and this has replaced connecting my laptop to the TV.

I am so happy my wife and i purchased this ROKU 3. We went from paying $150.00 dollar cable bill to paying $7 dollars for my Hulu Plus subscription and Netflix subscription. I watch the same channels and shows for $130 dollars less. Every couple of days there are new channels added that i was not familiar with and i get to check out channels and shows that i probably would not normally watch. This is buy far the best investment we've made in a long time. The only downside to this is not being able to access YouTube ;(
