That there was no off button was a little troublesome to me at first. But turns out I don't need it anyway. This baby's on almost 24/7. From listening to Pandora during the work day, to watching Netflix reruns at night, I don't know what I did before Roku.
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Attractive Design
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Unit but Remote needs work

I also have a Roku 2XS, never had a single problem with it. The Roku 3's wireless internet is as fast as my old Roku hardwired! Also its software goes faster. Also for you geeks that have files on your desktops, use the PLEX server to get those files streaming, I do not know how I ever lived without it. My only problem is the remote on the new one. Every two days I have to reset the Roku3 and the remote to get the bluetooth to pair. I end up just leaving it in the drawer and using the Roku app on my phone. I would have given 5 stars if it was not for the remote!
Pros: Attractive Design, Ease of use, Simple Controls
Cons: Remote Control

Works well, easy to use

Was easy to set up, worked right out of the box without any issues. Like the headphone on remote feature. Only problem I have occasionally is that the wireless network connection drops - would be great if it reconnected automatically - all I have to do is navigate to the setup screen and reconnect.
Pros: Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Fast Setup
Cons: Wireless Drops

A Better Choice for Streaming

We got a Roku because our Blu-ray plyr. suddenly was not working that well for streaming, after yrs. of good performance... no idea why there were problems. Roku 3 buffers shows/movies MUCH, MUCH faster and HD quality is superb. BIG NEGATIVE: lack of audio outputs... kind of a drag given that our TV only has optical audio out... had been using a small home theater setup plugged into the Blu-ray and it was fun. Great for streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls

Surprised by how functional this guy is!

I use both of my boxes to replace cable and I haven't looked back. Picture quality is excellent and never laggy. I've yet to see a rebuffer (I'm on 30mbps cable in a dense population). Only complaint is that I have a hard drive full of ripped movies, TV shows and home movies that I'd like to be able to access. The USB channel spends too much time re cataloging to be useful. Also would like more control over what folders it scans, etc. I guess what I want is Plex functionality (posters, etc). (Setting up a plex server isn't an option in my location). Other thing that would be a feature request is a roku-based queue instead of one in each streaming service and a "play random" feature so I can have background tv.
I love how easy it is to set up. I love how many channels I can get on it. I love that I can play games on it and watch movies on it. But what I love most of all is the headphones that plug into the remote! That is by far the best thing about it!
