This thing is great, I'm even debating getting another one to put in another room. The only thing I didn't really like was the fact that not all of the channels show up in the "store". You have to enter a code to get to some of the non-advertised ones.
Pros: Attractive Design, Lots of channels, Fast Setup, Compact, Simple Controls
Cons: Sometimes Restarts

Roku needs to add the ability to set static IP address information.
Pros: Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design

This Roku does everything it says it will and does it quickly! I especially love the headset jack on the remote. I don't have a sound system for my TV set and the sound quality is far superior when listening through headphones plugged into the remote. I bought a splitter so 2 people can listen at the same time with no degradation of sound. (Just don't bother with the supplied earbuds, they are worthless.)

Since 7/27/2013, I have been using both the Roku 3 & Apple 12/10/12; Roku 3 wins my a LONG-SHOT!!! Now that NetFlix loves them too... win-win!!

I was going to buy a smart TV but with new TV's on the horizon 4G's I decided to get a streaming player I look at a lot of info and thought the Roku was a good fit it has a lot of free channels as well as the popular pay ones so you will have plenty to watch It works great nice sound and picture and getting started was a breeze Power cord and a HDMI hookup and your good to go .
Would recommend this highly.Even considering another older Roku model for a older TV thats HDMI But no Hdmi ports only has the RGBY RCA jacks.

BUT..room for improvement. The main use for my Roku is as a PLEX (media server) client. I have realized that it may not be perfect in this role because its limited playback format features mean that my server has to do more real-time transcoding than is ideal. Hopefully this will change in the future with more format support from the Roku. As a client for Roku channels, the unit cannot be faulted. (Though you may find the range of channels limited in your country.) Watch out if you want to use unblockus etc with the Roku... you must reconfigure your router. You cannot (at the moment) alter the settings on the Roku. Also watch out if you use your TV to feed audio to an amplifier. Most tv's will not pass 5.1 sound, so you'll be limited to 2.0 since the Roku only has an HDMI output.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
