I'm not singling ROKU out in the menu dept. Netflix has the same disease. The new smartphones have shown us all how intuitive user interfaces should look and feel. Everything else starts to seem old. Also, my ROKU 3 somehow powers down and must be power-cycled to work again. I was told a software update would solve that. Nope, sorry. How does a unit with no on/off switch turn itself off?
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Clunky menus
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Watching Netflicks only problem i have cant get the Amazon app to rent ,like i did on my Roku 2.

I use my Roku for Netflix & Pandora. The Netflix experience is different from logging in on a PC. You get a smooth display with simple controls. There is so much to experiment with on the Roku 3, it really is a step up to the next level of how we stream movies and music. The Angry Birds game is cool too, with the motion remote movement to control the action. Thanks Roku.

nice for first timers

the design is simple and small, and i loved the idea about the headset for when i need it quiet. having the pandora, funimation, and pbs channels were great. but the syfy one was useless, no episodes at all. ones get the roku to stream all, not to have to get cable and have the added feature of streaming online.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Head Phone Setup, Funimation Channel, Easy Add Channels, Fast Setup, Pandora
Cons: No Hulucom, Not Good Syfy Channel, No youtube channel, No HBO, No Internet Browser

Roku Upgrade

I purchased two Roku 3s to replace 2 XD versions. I really like having the volume control on the ear bud line. I don't see a lot of difference in the models otherwise. One Con that I have, which may be some connection problem here, is that many times, when I start to use Roku, the light on the front is blinking and it will not connect. I can disconnect the power plug and it then works.

Great follow up to the Roku line

We do not have any type of television service in the house (i.e. cable, satellite, etc.) I do have an antenna hooked up which I use rarely to watch live tv, but most everything I do is on the Roku. I have used three versions, starting with the XD|S, moving to the Roku 2 XS and finally the Roku 3. I can easily say that the Roku 3 is the smoothest experience you can get in these little boxes and it provides a much better way to acces streaming content than any blu-ray player or other set-top box. Why? Well, firstly it's just simple. The controls are minimal and the interface is easy to understand. Secondly, it just looks cool! The design has come a long way from the first unit and I think they nailed it this time. Thirdly, the remote. It is responsive, plays games well and has the headphone jack which outputs the sound to your ears instead of the tv. There's more, but I'll stop there and just say this box rocks!!
Pros: Simple Controls, Snappier, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video

Product is extremely slow after the update and reset. Even trade in for a different product and remains the same. Majority of the apps have no sound but sound plays find thru the same hdmi on same TV. Very disappointed that I cannot turn the roku player off when gone. Also the channel offerings are very poor. With the exception of hbo go it offers almost all the same as every other streaming player. The new remote is poorly designed and also has very short range. Overall I liked the idea better than the reality. I do not recommend.

The only problem with the Roku 3

The only issue I had with this product is that it does not work well with NetGear. I have a NetGear router and must reset my Roku EVERYTIME I use it because I get a screen that says "Unauthorized content" if I don't. I spent hours on the internet figuring out how to fix this. You must go to the Settings and switch from 720p to 1080p and vice versa (just alternate the setting) every time you use it. This is only a problem with NetGear stuff and Roku. They just don't play nice. On the upside the Roku is such an awesome device I still use it even though it is highly inconvenient.

Cons: One Big Bug
