A great alternative to Cable TV!

A BRILLIANT alternative to Cable TV! The media conglomerates that own the content the fat cat cable companies control may disagree... Roku is poised about to upset a very profitable, cozy Cable TV ecosystem in which they've historically been sell bundles of channels nobody watches! Roku allows me to watch what I want, when I want. Ideally Roku would work on multiple TV's... At the end of the day I love my Roku (s)!
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Need Multiple Roku

Live By My Roku - Use It All The Time

I love streaming TV - we have been Roku users since your first model. Sadly, we moved from an area with FIOS internet and now the quality and Roku delivery & quality suffers using only DSL. Still, we stream Netflix & Amazon Prime constantly, more than regular TV, and use Pandora and a couple of other stations (Vimeo, for example) on a semi-regular basis. We bought the Roku 3 for its MP4 and MKV capabilities - but the MKV stopped streaming sound - and there doesn't seem to be any Roku tech support to address this situation. Also, because we love streaming internet, we are disappointed that Roku does not have YouTube access, which is a growing channel for us. Note: We are both private consumers and industry professionals who use TV/internet access for both fun and research.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Great Streaming World, Better Than Regular Tv
Cons: Mkv Stopped Working, No youtube, No Avi Support, Poor Support

Great unit but occasionally needs to be reset to link the unit to the remote. Not sure why it occurred but it is a bit of a hassle.

We have bought Roku to save monthly fees of satelite tv. There are all kinds of free and subsctibed cartoons, present and back in the day of Yogi Bear. There are plenty of movies free and subscription. The only thing that we feel like we are missing is present tv shows, such as Swamp people and local news. It was easy to set up. We recently had a storm, regular satelite went out.Roku did not.

Very easy to set up, works well. No problems in that regard. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the overall channel selection. It is great for Vudu and Amazon Prime (I do not use Hulu), but other than that the channels are fairly limited, or only offer snippets of shows. There is also a very high prevelance of religious based programming on available channels, VERY limited options for foreign language channels not included under the DISHWorld umbrella, and Roku shuts down the good private channels in fairly short order. If Roku loosened the reigns and nixed the exclusive DISHWorld contract, I would be a much happier camper and much more likely to recommend it to others. As it is, Roku is more like an add on to some other foundation TV service than a replacement.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls

The Absolute Best Roku Player

I have had Roku since it first came out a couple of years ago. When I saw this new Roku3? I couldn't believe it. 1080p screen resolution, N speed wireless, game toy to replace out Wii, Headphone for silent watching while spouse sleeps. It has a sleek new housing and is so well thought out. Have I told you about the excellent customer support at Roku? Believe it. They are the best; responsive and caring. I can't come up with any new features that would improve this model. The only thing that the world of internet TV needs, and this is not Roku's job, but is to provide live TV feeds in an app that Roku can put on their list. I have not only recommended this to a friend, I bought one for my daughter's family and one for my bedroom. I don't have to say what I am giving for Christmas!
