Works well for somethings

I bought this so i could easily watch netflix. It works great for that. I figured that the cost was worth that alone anything else I could pick up for free would be great. I have found that most channels require some kind of fee. Either you pay to join or pay to watch. You have to wade through lots of channels to find the ones you want to watch. Most if the free movie channels are full of junk. I am disappointed with the lack of free content overall. Also some of the channels are only clips of content in an effort to get you to then watch them on regular cable. Overall I really only use it for Netflix and HBOgo.
Pros: Netflix, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, HBO Go, Simple Controls
Cons: Lots Of Useless Stuff, Does Not Improve Audio/Video, Lots Not Free

purchased three different model. All of them freeze from time to time. Have to go over and unplug and replug power cord to get it going again.

My favorite channels to watch are Hulu, Netflix, Amazon and now Playon.tv. The video and sound quality is very good. I also enjoy using the closed captioning on Netflix and Amazon and I like to use the earbuds, too. I haven't tried any games yet but I might in the future.

Very cool, but too many flaws

Added weight is a fantastic feature and helps keep the device in place. The bluetooth audio in the remote is sheer genius. This is my second Roku and I want to love it, but, alas, I cannot. The biggest problem is that every time I go to a channel I get an error stating "HDCP unauthorised". I can hear the audio, but the error is the only things that appears on the screen. I've tried two HDMI cables and have the same problem with both. If I unplug the HDMI cable and reconnect it then I get the video, but the audio sounds like chipmunks. I then have to go back to the home screen and browse back to the program and all is well. Roku support blames the TV, the TV manufacturer blames Roku. Who knows. I don't have issues with other devices on this TV. I can't solve the issue until I can prove where the issue lies. As a result, I don't use the device nearly as often as I would like. Second problem, it freezes quite often and I have to power cycle the device. I also have this problem on my 2 XD. Not a big deal to me. Finally, when will there be an option to turn off ads for games and channels? 1) It's annoying and 2) I hate that the kids constantly want to click on things that pop-up. I like the Roku generally, but the Roku 3 was way more promise than product :(

The overall product is great. Functions are simple and browsing is easy. The biggest gripe I have is the lag/hangup while using the Netflix channel. After watching one episode the Roku will freeze up and will not automatically load the next episode nor will it let me manually select the next episode. I have to back all the way out of the channel and then open the Netflix channel again in order to select the next episode.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Freezes often
