Its almost as easy as plug and play - there is a little back and forth between the Roku and the computer when you are first setting up Netflix and HBOGo but after that its smooth sailing. I love that there is a headset jack on the remote! I dont know if I like it more or my girlfriend does though - I wake up early and watch TV; with the headset jack on the remote I can do it without waking her up!
Pros: Easy setup, Good Wifi, HDMI connection, Small Device Size
Cons: No Onboard Keyboard, No Lock On Remote

Better than Apple TV?

I've tried several different streaming devices, from my TV's connected features, Tivo's ability to stream from the most popular channels, to other more dedicated streaming boxes like the Chromecast. I've narrowed down the two best to Roku and Apple TV. I would say that in general, Roku is better than Apple TV. I have both, and find my self using the Roku 3 almost exclusively. One of the con's I listed is that Roku has too many sub-par channels. The reason for this is that it is easier to develop and distribute Roku channles tha Apple TV channels so the quality control isn't as good as something more rigidly curated like Apple TV. I find that freedom to be a strength however, because you are more likely to find content available on your Roku. The Roku could use a more streamlined way of finding the channels, but the fact is, the content is at least available, and the apps that are great on Apple TV are also great on Roku. The two devices are very similar so to finish I'll simply list what I find important that Roku has that Apple TV does not and vice versa. Roku -------------------------------------------------- Plex Channel - This allows me to set up a streaming media server on my home PC and effortlessly watch it on the tv More Content Easier to get to a specific channel Better iOS app design (other than the fact there is currently no tablet optimized version) Apple TV -------------------------------------------------- Ability to stream directly from iTunes Ability to mirror my iOS device to the Apple TV For me I have to have both because of hte iOS mirroring (I use that a lot) but other than that, I prefer the Roku 3
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Great Remote
Cons: No Ipad Optimized App, Lots Of So-so Channels

Excellent Product..Lackluster Channels

The product itself (little black electronic box) is great. Super easy to setup and operate. The channels offered are not exactly the solution everyone likes to make them out to be. Cutting the cable is a little more difficult if your looking for Disney alternatives (haven't found one yet.. and I'm not talking about that commercial / teaser channel that Roku offer) and recent, easy to find movies.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: Channels Are So So

Great device

Use it to stream movies from my plex server and to watch amazon prime instant video and netflix. Before this I had a HTPC hooked to the tv. I have managed to get all my content with a much smaller footprint in the living room. It has been great having one and I have been tempted to buy another.
