We previously connected the laptop to the TV every time that we wanted to watch a Netflix movie or YouTube; the Roku has simplified this process. Now we use the Roku daily to stream cartoons for our 2 year old. I use the integrated headphones with the remote control a lot to not disturb other family members during sleep.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design

I love the roku 3 its easy to where when you want to watch tv with the headphones and it doesn't bother anyone else. I just wish the roku would have more tv stuff like nbc, and abc, and cbs that isn't news but other then that I love it!

Useful and easy to set up

Setting up our Roku 3 was simple. We especially appreciate being able to use headphones which comes in handy living in a small house with looooong winters! We use it to view Netflix and Hulu, and my husband's happily going throught an MIT thermodynamics set of lecture - for fun.

In 2011 I purchased the RokuXD/S so I could watch the Glenn Beck program. I had several problems with it, but was determined to use it. I recently decided to give Roku one more try, just purchased the new box for $99.99, and that's the smartest decision I've made in a long time. It works 100% better than my last Roku. I like it so much that I am currently contemplating dropping my Cable T.V. service and just using Roku. Think of how much you spend on Cable T.V. as compared to one little box for $99.99. I highly recommend Roku!

The only thing I've been able to use it for is Netflix. Plex is a great channel but there are poor instructions on how to link the files from you computer and to get them onto the channel...very disappointing. Now with smart TVs, Roku's will slowly become obsolete even though it does have a cool design.

Cons: Poor Remote Design

I have also Western Digital Live which can play a lot of video files but aside from that Roku 3 is the best for me. Once I have figure out how to play the video files from my external hard drive I'll relegate my WDL to my basement TV monitor and use Roku 3 as my full time player.

Cons: Difficulty Playing Video
