VERY COOL GADGET!

i bought this roku to get ird of high priced cable. After I realized how much i need to subscribe to it may not replace the cable afterall. Still trying to determine whic is cheaper. Also, I wish there were more cable tv channels on here (such as TNT shows, FX shows, DIY programs, etc)Overall, I am pleased but now usre it will take over my cable.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Searching A Little Hard

Roku Rocks

I love my Roku! I do not have cable and the Roku gives me nearly endless choices to watch when I want to watch. There are so many free channels that offer so many movies that I'm just amazed. Plus, there's I Heart Radio for when I want to chill out with some tunes. Then there's the cool remote app for my Kindle Fire HD that makes finding the remote waaay easier. So glad I bought this! The Roku is a life-changer.
Pros: Viewing Choices Galore, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, No buffering, Fast Setup

SADLY, THE ROKU IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ONE'S BROADBAND CONNECTION. THE ROKU IS PERFECT. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH THE ROKU ITSELF. I SUGGEST TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THE PURCHASE OF A ROKU, TO SPEND THE MONEY TO GET THE BEST IN MODEM/ROUTER AND INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER. . . IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE! I LOVE THE MOST RECENT UPGRADE (ROKU 3) BECAUSE EARBUDS ARE INTEGRATED INTO THE REMOTE! THERE IS A VOLUME CONTROL ON THE REMOTE. IT PROVIDES 'HEADPHONE' CAPABILITY, BUT IT'S BASICALLY 'WEIGHTLESS'! THANKS ROKU! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Convenience and Ease of use

The convenience of being able to view almost any movie I want to see immediately is invaluable. I located several movies I have been looking for for quite some time.

Overpriced - wait to purchase

Look - it is a fine Roku player. It does have a better remote than my Roku2XD. But it does not do anything else beter than the Roku2. I do not use it for games - so that option does not improve it's value to me. It is not any faster. It does not have any better screen options, setup choices, or anything else that I can tell. I do not pay for cable and use the roku as my sole main method of getting TV entertainment - so my advice, wait for the price to drop before you buy it. Should have cost more like $60 instead of the $95 I paid.

Worth The Price

I do not have cable TV or regular TV. Roku is all I use. I am not a big TV user because of the internet but Roku more than meets my expectations. It has a lot of the obscure and informative channels and many different news outlets. If you search you can even find good movies for free. It works well with DSL and there are minimal lag stuttering or pausing to retrieve information. I have not even scratched the surface of the free channels you can program in and I have the unit a couple of months now. To be clear on it's overall function it is a giant remote control based large format HDTV internet interface that also acts as kind of a TV guide to get you to all the free TV the internet has to offer. And there is a lot both live and on demand. You can also run your pay accounts thru the unit such as Netflix, NHL, NFL, Hulu etc... For a person that was becoming more and more dis-satisfied with network and cable TV I find that Roku has put me back in charge of TV as opposed to being charged and controlled by the TV.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: Occasional Reset, No Tivo, No power switch
