Should have done this sooner

I use this at home I wished that I would have done it sooner much better performance than my Xbox and Wii with Netflix quicker load times and easy interface. very easy to setup on the network both wireless and hard wired. Only regret is I wished that I would have done it sooner. The only con that I can see is I wish that more of our local channels were available. Could not ask for it to be smaller.

Concept is Good, Remote Could be Better

I use three models of the Roku since it has been developed. The latest version with the volume control on the remote as well as an ear phone plug make it a much better functional device for private listening. The only drawback is that I notice the battery life has been cut back due to the drain as compared to earlier models. Mind you, I use my remote at least 3 hours a day so this does impact the life of the battery. I think other users will not have too many battery life issues if they keep there viewing times less then 4 to 5 hours per day. I keep a fresh pack of batteries ready to replace them just in case the unit stops working, which it has done multiple times. It's a nuisance to have to replace the batteries since once they discharge, you cannot stop whatever you a viewing on Roku and it requires a reset each time to get back to what you are viewing.
Pros: Fast Setup, Nice Earbuds On Remote, Improved Audio/Video, Simple Controls, Attractive Design
Cons: Battery Life Limited

Just got the Roku 3 and love it that I can plug headphones into it. Helps block out the wife when she talks to me. haha I have 4 Rokus and the wife and son enjoty theirs.

Internet Speed is Key

The only real disappointing thing was very limited access to sports programming. Current TV series access through providers is OK but was not to the point where we felt comfortable getting rid of our satellite provider.
Pros: Fast Setup, Great For Old Tv Shows, Simple Controls
Cons: No Parental Controls, No Local Channel Options, Our Dsl Was Too Slow

I bought this as a gift for my electronically challenged parents. I thought that I'd give it a try before freaking them out. IT IS AMAZING! I kept it. Yep. So easy that my 5 year old works it. It's tiny and discreet with some AMAZING power. Streams movies like nobody's business. I bought another for my parents, worried the entire time that they wouldn't attempt it. EVEN MY PARENTS FIGURED THIS THING OUT! They use it EVERY SINGLE night! They subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime and they are in heaven. Highly recommend this product!

A "No-Brainer" Upgrade!

I upgraded to the Roku 3 from a first generation device. Installation and setup was simple and fast, just like my 1st-gen. However, the speed of the wireless connection was like night and day! My wireless network supports 802.11n and so did my 1st-gen device, but it always took anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to buffer enough video content before starting to play. With the Roku 3, it is amazingly fast...5 seconds max! That alone makes me a happy camper and justified the upgrade. Regarding the new navigation menu, I could take it or leave it. Personally, I liked the old horizontally scrolling list, but that's just me. Overall, menu navigation feels quicker...probably due to the more powerful processor. I like the new remote well enough, but have had no occasion to use the headphone jack. The controls are familiar, but I was perfectly happy with my 1st-gen remote. For anyone still using the original Roku, assuming your TV is HDMI-capable, this is a worthy upgrade!
