Frankly we were less than impressed by the content available. Most of the so-called "free" channels are nothing more than come-ons to subscribe. Unless you pay for subscription streaming services you won't get much usable content. A lot of "Z" grade drive-in schlock movie channels and video blogs with production values akin to "Wayne's World". Although streaming movies work fine on my box I still get an "Internet connection timeout error" when attempting to connect to I Heart Radio. Also lack of YouTube is a big minus. Most of the capabilty from this box is now available built-in on most new LCD TV's. Also I had to open up the security on my router to get the box to connect. Rather tricky even for someone who knows router configuration.
Pros: Simple Controls
Cons: Difficult setup

Almost perfect

I love almost everything about the Roku. Access to Amazon Prime and Hulu plus are great and the search functions work well. I wish there was a search function for the TED talks and that the talks were not limited in number. I can access many more on my computer/tablet and the topics of interest are easier to find.

Cut your cable bill! Aren't you sick of the cable companies charging you an arm and a leg? I was. This little black box paid for itself in one month. And I feel so liberated! It's like giving the cable company a big raspberry! Do it!

I love my Roku!! We have cancelled cable and use the Roku to give us lots of variety in our movie and TV viewing!!!

Whenever I attempt to add something requiring computer/internet, I break out in to a cold sweat. It's usually a nightmare than ends up costing you way more than you planned. I was thrilled at how easy this was. I had already invested time and money in the high quality home network, so that part was done. I just plugged the box in and it was up and running in a few minutes. The longest part of the process was putting in all the passwords to the services that I subscribe to after they generated them online. We use it to "catch up" on stuff we miss on the DVR, mostly using Netflix and Amazon Prime. It has easy access to all the major providers you'd be looking for - as long as you have a subscription to the ones that require it. There's lots of free stuff too, but you mostly get what you pay for. I have one big con and one small con... The big one is less about Roku specifically and more about inventing a way to more easily browse available programming. Clicking from one provider to another and diving down into each of their menus is a slow way to find something to watch on TV. The whole process needs an integrated information database with ONE overarching browse menu. AND someone needs to completely REINVENT the TV remote both for browsing and data entry. My network generated password is 32 characters - spelling that out with a TV remote is 10 minutes you'll never get back. The small con is that the remote is motion sensitive. It triggers on (even though it doesn't do anything) with every bump of the coffee table or whenever it's moved around. Consequently, it often needs new batteries when you go to use it. It's not a magic lamp, but it's the best thing I found to gain access to programming over the internet with my flatscreen.

Good , but not perfect

Over all very good and the search capability across services works great. To bad it can't search OTA and had time shifting abilities. I Have only one service NF, so from a practical point the search has its limits. NF is where I watch 99% of the shows. The Wifi Remote has some issue, where it seems to go dead, and the Roku3 looses is connection to the Wifi, removing the battery and resetting adapter power restores the system. It Maybe my wifi, but my TV and my Blu-Ray Player reconnects to wifi when there is a Comcast interruption. I had higher expectations, but the Roku3 is still very good.
Pros: Fast Setup
Cons: Does Not Improve Audio/Video, Wifi Remote Intermittant

Bought the Roku to watch Amazon Instant Video, and it's been great! The remote control is easier than my Apple TV, and there's no need to aim it directly at the Roku.. very friendly. Searching all services that Roku provides is consistent amongst all providers, which makes it really easy to use. Kudos to a great little product!
