Fabulous but missing a vital feature

Roku does almost everything... But I wish I had known that it didn't support "Just for Kids" on Netflix. That would have been a dealbreaker. I just assumed that it would be on there, as it is on the PS3. I understand the WD player supports Just for Kids but haven't verified. The Roku 3 would be a 10/10 if it patched this.
Pros: Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Compatibility, Attractive Design, Fast Setup
Cons: No Netflix Just For Kids, Netflix

If you could turn it off and reboot from remote it would be perfect. Love it! Looking forward to next generation.

Roku 3 how does it stack up?

The Roku 3 is a great entertainment / streaming device. It's sleek design, compact size and Bluetooth remote make it easily placed and almost invisible, not to say it needs to be. I have recommended this to friends and family with excellent results I have a Roku 2 and a 3

Cons: Not Backward Compatable

Just Plain Works

With the low power consumption and always-on feature, this is now our family's go-to box for streaming Netflix, Amazon Video, HBO Go and more. Very easy for the family to use. The Search feature is great, too. If you search for a TV show or movie title by name, the Roku will tell you which channels it's available on (Netflix, Amazon Video, etc.) So handy to have it search across available services! If they'd only add Qwerty keys to the back of the remote, it would be perfect. Arrowing from letter to letter on an onscreen keyboard is way too inconvenient.

Cons: No Qwerty Remote

I bought this as a possible substitute for cable, and I needed the most up-to-date Netflix and Amazon interface to be able to see captions (hard of hearing). Snap to install. Plug it in. Give it your network password and you're done. Then I needed to link to my amazon and netflix accounts which took about 10 minutes tops. Done. It works great. The quality over wifi rivals or exceeds what I get through any other source. The radio rather than infrared remote means that there's none of that pointing around whatever might be between you and the system. I've not used the remote as a game controller. I think the option to plug headphones into the remote is brilliant. The process of adding new sources and streams is straight forward even for sources not within the offical Roku library. A quick Internet search turns up many more Roku-accessible channels that can easily be added. Roku provides access and performs wonderfully doing that, but it is not content per se. It is still an imperfect situation to try to cut the Comcast cable, but it's getting closer. I hope to reduce Comcast to basic cable and Internet within another year or so, saving probably $1,000 a year. One minor suggestion. There is a volume control on the remote for when you use headphones / buds. If that could be used as a universal remote-like volume control, it would eliminate the need to have a second remote nearby. I would highly recommend this product.

Better speed, horrible SD card slot

I could not easily get the SD card that Roku sold me with the Roku 3 to fit into the SD card slot. Once finally in, there is no way to find out if it has been recognized, so I have no idea whether it is in properly or not. Feels wrong to me, but no way to tell. Speed is much better compared to first version.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
