Okay, but sticking with Apple Tv's

I have two entertainment systems in my home. They currently both use Apple TVs for media streaming from my media server, from Netflix, and from YouTube. I thought the Plex app for the Roku, would be nice and allow me to stream content from many other sources/channels so I gave it a try. I returned it to the store two days later. The main reason for returning the Roku was due to the difficult navigation involved in accessing any media. With the Apple TV, my 4 yr. old can navigate to any of our digital movies, find shows on Netflix, even find recently watched shows on YouTube. With the roku, she couldn't work the controls well enough to navigate the more-complicated menu structure to access anything. I couldn't switch from the clean and simple interface of the Apple TV for the roku. From the second I opened the box, I was comparing the perfectly packaged, solid Apple TV to this poorly packaged, light-weight, device. I hoped the noticeable difference in quality/attention to detail ended there, but the interface was clumsy and my OCD brain couldn't handle it. So I am still happily using the Apple TV.
Cons: Poor Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The product is good but when not in use I have to unplug it to get it to work again.

Making Life Cheaper

We got this to help cut down on our Cable bill. We have gone down to the basic cable. The only reason we didn't get rid of cable all together is because of not having a good solution for local channels yet for news and weather. We now can stream all the shows and movies we normally watch. We use Amazon Prime which we couldn't watch on our Wii, so we are not able to also get rid of Netflix and have only one movie streaming option. So that saved us money as well. Best part is our son hasn't even noticed that some of his channels on cable are gone. In fact he likes that he can choose episodes now instead of only watching what was on TV at the moment. Thanks Roku!

Who needs Blu Ray??

I have several Roku's and love this one the best yet! It's a wonderful product; so easy to use, and the the streaming is amazingly good. They just keep getting better and better! Roku is far and away the most versatile and useful streaming solution on the market today. If they don't support it, you don't need it.

The on-demand broadcasts definitely have great picture quality, but the "live" broadcasts are poor quality in some cases - and are they really live? They seem to be pre-recorded as well. Otherwise, love Roku - the ease of use and selection of programming are commendable.

Very easy setup. I bought because I needed CC and getting there between internet streaming services and my new TV seemed impossible. Bought ROKU and works like a charm. In a perfect world would maybe not be necessary but sure does the trick. Very convenient having all services displayed on one screen. I now listen to internet music services much more than I would have otherwise. Simple, dependable, and effective. Certainly worth the price in todays world.
