So much better than DVD player!

Using our DVD players to stream content meant almost constant interruptions for buffering and frequent resets. All gone with the Roku. It took less then 10 minutes to set up (and I wouldn't be described as tech savvy). The channels available were a nice surprise - to be honest, I had no idea there was so much free content out there. And using headphones with the remote makes it easy for one of us to watch while the other sleeps. Two possible improvements: it would be nice if the volume control on the remote worked when the headphones weren't plugged in, and it would make navigation easier if the select button on the remote were in the center of the navigation arrows.

The greatest thing for me is the ability to plug in headphones at night so my girlfriend can sleep while I catch up on my shows.

Nearly perfect streaming box

I have both an AppleTV and a Roku 3, since we bought the Roku 3 we never seem to use the AppleTV except for occasional Airplay. The Roku is faster, has more stations but could benefit from support pictures, music and videos on my computer (Mac) and also Airplay support. In my opinion this is nearly a perfect streaming box

Reboots very quickly, great features

This is the first Roku (I'm now up to 3) that I actually love. The previous 2 were horrible. This boots up almost instantly. I use the earphone jack when I want to watch TV at night and don't want to disturb anyone (if you have good earphones, the sound quality is astonishing). The latest Roku has 1080i resolution and 5.1 sound and if the incoming media is of high quality, then the picture is just a step or 2 below Blu-Ray. I still have to somewhat aim the remote at the Roku but I don't have to be very precise. If I put the Roku behind the TV, then the remote wouldn't work. Some of my previous Roku remotes either required absolute line-of-sight or point anywhere. What I don't like: The 'OK' button is located below the joystick directional buttons. I transferred the signal codes to a programmable remote so that I don't have to deal with that minor annoyance. Verdict: I'm extremely pleased with the latest Roku 3 and especially with the new firmware updates (as of July 2013).
