We dropped Directv and purchased 3 units for the house. Absolutely love it. We use the channels we love, have netflix, hulu plus and amazon prime. Our bill has dropped to $20 a month and we are so much happier with our new way of watching tv.
Pros: Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Simple Controls

I used both the Boxee Box and the Roku 2 XS before purchasing my Roku 3. I was hoping to dump the Boxee completely, but it still has its uses. Bottom line is, the Roku 3 is an excellent value, and is immediately useful to beginners as well as advanced users. Pros 1) Fairly good 1080p video, particularly on H.264 encoded MP4 files. Upscales lower resolutions. 2) Both wired and wireless internet connectivity (I use wired). 3) Same small footprint as the Roku 2 XS. 4) Works flawlessly with Revision3, Amazon and Plex (my Plex server is a small Synology NAS). 5) Excellent RF remote with a headphone jack for personal listening. Sound is in perfect sync with the video. 6) Faster and more responsive than the Roku 2 XS, even more obvious when both are running the new software. 7) Fully supported with lots of apps to choose from and more on the way (unlike Boxee which is abandoned). 8) Very portable and easily travels with a pico projector. Cons 1) Doesn't do USB folders. All of your video files are in one continuous icon list. Hard to use if you have hundreds or thousands. 2) Doesn't play .mkv formats like Boxee does. 3) Can't scrub through video (FF and RR) or play video at different speeds. You can only skip X number of seconds forward or backward. 4) A couple of hard crashes and freezes, but these will probably go away as the new software matures. 5) Volume control only works on the headphones. 6) No YouTube app (but you can enqueue YouTube videos on your Plex account and play them with the Plex app). 7) 12V power supply. Would be more convenient with 5V USB power. 8) No "jukebox" mode for USB music video files.

Very satisfied with our Roku 3

We are about two and a half weeks into our time as Roku 3 users, and we are very satisfied. We purchased the box as an actual replacement for cable, which was simply becoming too costly. While the Roku is not a blow-by-blow replacement of cable, so far we've been extremely pleased with it. It was very simple to set up, and there is a broad array of channels, though, like many others, our primary focus has been Netflix and Hulu, along with sports packages we previously subscribed to. The main downside is that typing is clunky with the remote, though that's hardly out of the realm of the ordinary and was mostly expected. If you use the Roku on a more interactive basis you might find this more problematic. The other big issue is that HBO Go does not allow Comcast subscribers to watch on the Roku. That's something to be aware of, although I imagine this has more to do with the cable company than it does with Roku. Overall, I would highly recommend the product to others. Easy set up, simple navigation and problem-free streaming.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup

"Select" would be better located in center of "Up", "Down", "Left" and "Right" arrows for use in the dark --- I often unintentionally press "Down" arrow instead of "Select", thereby requiring "Up"x2 plus "Down"x1 + "Select" to get to where I should have been able to be with one click --- not critical, but an annoyance.
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Attractive Design

We use it to watch movies or missed shows on Hulu. The remote control is easy to use. Kids love using the headphones. What's not so great... No captioning on quite a lot of channels. I am deaf and I feel like I'm only limited to Netflix and Hulu Plus. Others such as the news channel, Crackle, etc provides no captioning.
Pros: Fun Games, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Kids Can Use Controls, Simple Controls
Cons: Sometimes Freeze Up, Very Limited Captioning

Excellent product with fast setup, great form factor and nice features. The ability to get it working out of the box quickly and the picture/sound quality are excellent. Far better than other devices I have used for streaming in our home theater before.
Pros: Fast Setup, Value For Price, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video, Remote Headphone Jack, Simple Controls
