Tough call between 2XD and 3

We have a Roku 2XD and recently purchased the newest model, Roku 3. They have improved the simplicity of the remote control and the unit delivers as advertised. We have noticed, however, that the Roku 3 will occasionally freeze and the controls on the remote will not work so there is no way to move through the menu. The problem is solved if we disconnect the unit for a minute or so then replug. This has worked each time, but we've never had that problem with the Roku 2XD. That is my only negative comment. Other than that, we love Roku and are happy with the product.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: Occasionally freezes

We hated paying a cable company for channels we never watch. This has helped us keep watching some shows we like. Still miss my Food Network and a couple other cable shows, but all in all, ROKU does well.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls

After dumping Direct TV Roku is my source for anything I can't watch on broadcast TV. The interface with both Amazon and Netflix are excellent and the picture quality is very good. Overall I am 100% satisfied with my Roku3!

I'm very excited to have the Roku 3. If Apple TV and Roku 3 could be merged into one device it would be perfect for what I was looking for. I love all the channel apps and games Roku 3 offers but miss not being able to live stream things from my iPad or computer onto my TV screen. In my opinion, that's the only pro Apple TV has over the Roku 3.

Love it-except the remote!

We use the Roku3 for all of our streaming. It works great! I only have two complaints-1) I wish I could stream my iTunes library and sling box. I don't like the fact there is not a "do all" tv streaming hardware available. 2) The remote is junk-or maybe it is just the software between the Roku and the remote. I have to re "pair" the remote with the Roku on just about a daily basis. The remote simply stops working. It is easy to pair, but annoying that I have to unplug and fix just about every day.
