1) Searching is a pleasure. Lists all channels where a particular movie or programme is listed. 2) Buffering is never a problem. 3) Does not get heated up so fast. 4) Has a implementation of Airplay but is limited to the songs on the device like iphone or ipad.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: No youtube, No airplay

The "silent listening" option is great for breastfeeding mom's who don't want to expose the baby to all the noise but still want to watch some movies ... The range of the earphones is about the same as for bluetooth ... keep it in mind. And if you plan on two or more people enjoying the roku service look into getting a splitter (for 2) or bluetooth for multiple viewers.

This is my favorite new streamer now. It is the go to in my living room where for movie watching it's replaced the ps3 except blurays. Faster navigation through menus and low power/heat vs ps3/heater . I also have an apple 3 which is currently being used in the bedroom for Netflix and iTunes mostly and its a good little unit for the apples we have but noticeably slower than the Roku3 from navigation to wireless buffering (I recently had to get a pair of power line ethernet plugs which are a good help). The Roku unit looks to be well built and the remote is very functional although it looks and feels like a toy to be honest but that's not a big deal really. The Roku shines when it comes to speed, easy, fun menus, Plex media and these are the strengths that make it great in my book.
Pros: Sd Slot, Fast Setup, Strong Wireless Signal, Improved Audio/Video, Plex Media, Good value, Gaming With Remote, Headphone Jack, Simple Controls
Cons: Chintzy Remote, None

Great streaming device

This is an excellent device for streaming TV over the Internet, especially if you are a cordcutter like me and have eliminated cable TV. It is easy to set up, and the menu system is easy to use. There are a lot of channels you can add to your Roku device, and that process is straightforward. The device itself is small and inconspicuous, and can even be mounted out of the way on the back of your TV to further reduce clutter. It stays on all the time, which is very convenient when you are ready to watch TV since you don't have to wait for it to initialize. The power consumption is low, so being continuously powered is not an issue. I actually have two units, one upstairs and one downstairs, and have streamed on both simultaneously with no issues. The remote control is easy to use and includes a wrist strap. I added a microSD card to my units to increase storage for added channels. I prefer the menu system on this device over the embedded menus in my Blu-Ray player or SmartTVs. Good attention to industrial design and packaging. Overall, you can't go wrong with this unit, and it is a great first streaming device to eventually help you eliminate cable TV.
