Finicky Reception

I have the Roku2 HD and love it, great reception and easy setup as well as easy to use. I liked it so much I was excited to get the Roku 3 all new. The Roku 3 has been a disappointment because I don't get good reception like the Roku 2 HD. I have to constantly mess with it to the point of frustration. I decided to move my Roku 2 HD back to my main room and hope for an upgrade to fix the Roku 3 issue. Overall I like the Roku players but the lack of a guide with stations is a bit annoying, I loved that I got BBC News but now I don't. I am able to get my netflix easily and have the option to add more pay to use channels. You can search for Roku private channels and find them on the web. I think the Roku has potential, but with the drawbacks (lack of a guide and reception issues) I'm not recommending it get the Roku 2 HD it works much better but still no guide.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: Does Not Improve Audio/Video, Poor reception
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lots of fun from a little box

It goes without saying but this is only for highspeed broadband streaming. Roku keeps improving subsequent generations of the streaming players. Only this top of the line Roku 3 still comes with a wired Ethernet connection. I feelt his is still the best way to assure high quality video streaming. I found my wifi would Sometimes freeze up (buffering), mostly due to router issues. The box is only as good as all the other components in your system, including the reliabilty of your internet provider.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls

Small yet powerful

I would recommend the Roku 3 over any other previous models mainly on it being so much faster to operate. There's an enormous amount of channels to choose from. The streaming is exceptionally smooth. Quite impressive considering its Size. This model especially, due to the more powerful processor is easy to operate through Roku's very basic remote control. I still wish Roku supported YouTube natively but the lack of it is mitigated by the major improvements this new Roku has over its predecessors like a Remote Headphone Jack.
Pros: Remote Headphone Jack, Size, Attractive Design, Abundance of Channels, Energy efficient, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: No youtube, No power button

Pros: Many Channels, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Quality video
Cons: No Wireless Full Keyboard

Good things come in small packages

Our first Roku. When I opened the package, couldn't believe that the tiny little box was somehow going to partially replace that big box from the cable company. Plugged it in, and was pleasantly amused by the boot up sequence... dancing/tapping "Roku" letters. Next was to put in my wifi info and I was on my way to adding one channel after another. We are moderate TV users, mostly the kids watch their stuff with us sticking to a couple good shows and selected movies. Between Amazon, Hulu+, and mlb.tv we can pretty cover 80% of our needs. So with Roku, I have been able to scale back my tv package - now only get basic local channels with dvr function to tape any shows not covered by the internet, plus local news, and some sports (i.e. nfl) Couldn't be happier with the purchase. The only issue I have had with it is that when my router has blinked and been rebooted, Roku has never managed to reconnect without being restarted. It does not have a reboot button so needs to be unplugged. There are some "secret" codes available online that can be utilized as well but I need to write them down as I can never remember when I need them. I think the trend says that more and more channels will be getting on this internet bandwagon in the coming months and years. Aereo is already available for low cost live tv and more are on their way. Now is the time to get into products like Roku and cut that really expensive cord!
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: No Sleepshutoff Button, No Reboot Button

My family uses our Roku 3 daily, probably streaming a total of 4-5 hours every day (between the kids use and then my wife's and my own). We've had ours for 3 months now without any problems. Works as well today as it did the first day I set it up.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Fast And Dependable, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
