This is the fourth unit I have tried in less than a month. The quality control is extremely poor.
I suspect that the unit has a temperature problem as I have to uninstall it and place in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes along with the remote.
Than it will work for several hours. With the headset connected it will quit working in less than 1 hour. This has been a common problem with all 4 units. My roku 2 works fine but I purchased the Roku 3 because of the headset capability.

Nice little box at a good price

I've been using it for four months and I work for an electronics retailer. I think cable is out of control and like the Canadian idea of being able to choose what you want a la carte. The Roku 3 meets my needs and I like Roku's pioneering attitude. I mainly use it for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, PBS and Pandora. I'm going to try out the Major League Baseball Channel.
CONS. I find most of the other channels to be useless and a lot more is paid programming than unpaid. I don't like the fact that it is meant to be kept on all the time, as it gets hot and I have had to unplug and reboot several times. The remote batteries don't last very long if you connect headphones and fall asleep.
PROS. It is super fast compared with my bu-ray player. I love the headphone feature as I hook up my expensive headphones to it. I'm able to free up my laptop so I can watch tv while I surf the internet.
THINGS I WANT ROKU TO WORK ON. Find a way to connect a wireless keyboard to it so setup and search functions aren't such a pain. Have more channel info on the website so I'm not disillusioned when I try to watch the History Channel and realize it is limited access only among many other channels that I have tried to use. The organization of the site is good and easy, but I would like a way to personalize and customize the organization a little bit more. Internet browser??

The Roku unit # 2700R that I am using is easy to use and navigate. It is designed for basic instructions and usage. It is easy to navigate and stop at any point in a movie or show. You can rewind, go forward, or pause for breaks and pick up where you stopped. You can also go back at a later time and start the film where you stopped previously without having to watch or fast forward to where you were.

Excellent streaming device

I was already in the market for a streaming device to connect to my TV when I was introduced to Roku. I was very impressed from the beginning with the fluid menus and extremely easy setup. The device was literally up and running within a couple of minutes. HDMI setup could not be any easier, and the only other cable you need to plug in is the AC Adapter. THAT EASY! Once the setup is complete, you'll have a gazillion audio and video options to choose from. This includes international channels, and even religious content. This was very important for me. No longer do I have to connect my iPad to the TV in order to stream content. The glaring omission that I hope is addressed soon is YouTube thou. I have read of alternate options to connect to it, but it should come standard. Judging by the professionalism and quality of the people behind the device, I'm sure it will happen. Considering everything, I give Roku two thumbs up! I strongly recommend it if you're looking for a competent, reliable, stable and seamless entertainment option. You really can't ask for much more, specially for the price. And if you're still on the fence after reading this and other reviews, I have two words for you: BUY IT! You won't regret it.

Roku 3 is highly recommended

Despite receiving the Roku 3 as a gift for reviewing, I was a bit leery at how well streaming could work. I had used netflix on several other devices and found it less than desirable. However, after using the Roku 3 for a few hours, I was amazed at how well it works! It is like a completely different world. When unboxing it, the first amazing part was how small it was! This thing is tiny if you are used to game consoles or cable boxes. It was a breeze to setup, hooks up with HDMI and our secure WIFI. After registering on the website, it immediately started syncing up with the channels we selected. I tried out some movies from amazon and it worked flawlessly. Total setup time was < 10 minutes. The remote works very well, I love that it uses radio instead of IR so it isn't directional. That was one of my favorite features of my PS3. It is amazing that not everyone has adapted this technology already. The built-in headphone adapter is neat as well, allowing for private listening of movies/TV shows. After my first few hours, there were only a few small flaws I found: 1. After setup, it was running in 720P by default and not 1080P, but it was easy to switch. 2. The plug is wide sideways box (almost as large as the Roku itself) and takes up extra space on my power strip. Very smooth and highly recommended if you want to go with any sort of streaming solution!

Small Box Leaves Huge Impression

I have multiple entertainment devices in my home. An Xbox, Playstation, laptop, desktop, and more. This little box leaves a HUGE impression. It boots in no time, you have immediate access to Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and more. Within minutes of opening it, it was updated, activated, and I quickly navigated my way to Vudu and was watching The Hobbit in 1020p. Even more amazing was there was no apparent buffering or interruption in my film.
Pros: Great value, Quick Boot, Built in Wi-Fi, Video selection, Easy to set up, High quality picture, Easy to use, Compact, Reliability

Unboxing the Roku 3 was nice. So far I'm most excited about the headphones jack in the remote control... it's awesome!! My roommate hates some of the bad shows I watch so that really helps, haha. As for the device itself, it's pretty fast and responsive. Loads up well, channels move quickly. I'm not in love with the set up, however. Takes waaay too long. I wish Roku had password management like a browser so I wouldn't have to log into every channel. This is really painful. Even if not, it'd be great if I could use my computer during set up to log into my channel accounts... a keyboard is way better than a remote with a d-pad. Final bit of grief, I keep shining the remote's surface because it's not matte. Would have been nice to not see smudges all of the time :/ Overall, very happy!
Pros: Great value, Easy to use
Cons: Difficult to set up, No Vid-qual Auto-detect, Shiny Remote Gets Smudges
