Battery life with headphones using remote is poor! Great idea but should last longer.

I got this specifically for Netflix. Easy to use, but browsing for titles can be slow. I don't see any way to fix this without a full keyboard which is impractical. I (and my wife) love the headphone jack in the remote. That means no sound interference when we are watching different things in adjacent rooms.
Pros: Fast Setup, Ease of use, Simple Controls, Attractive Design
Cons: Clunky Browsing

The Roku 3 works great, when it works

I use the Roku 3 every evening. I particularly like the earphone jack feature. I got the device in April and I've replaced the Batteries 3 times. The device does not always work, so I have to reset it quite often, at least once per week. This unit is nice but not as dependable as the older Roku that I had.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: It Eats Batteries, T Eats Batteries, I Have To Reset It Often

This is my second Roku box and the 3 is a vast improvement speed wise over the previous model 2XD. Adding an ethernet port greatly enhances streaming HD movies/TV shows. I have not experienced the hour glass once!

The access speed is of device great. If you have a dual band router, connecting the device using a 5Ghz signal will give you the best experience. The Tunein app is great, but the sound quality varies depending on the station that you're streaming. Also, some stations are unavailable on Tunein because they use an audio stream that currently not supported by the player. However, some of those stations are available on the iHeartRadio app. For Netflix users, this is, by far and away THE device to use. You can begin streaming a film in just a few seconds, The audio and video quality is beautiful. With so many channels available, you'll always find something to watch and listen to!

Cannot live anymore without my Roku, i also have appletv, but Roku works better for me.

Great streaming player

Even though I have only used it to stream Netflix, Huluplus, and Amazon movies and and tv shows it comes with many other apps to numerous to mention, however a free weather app works fine for basic weather. I dropped cable TV so if I need more extensive weather I use the weather channel app on the computer. Probably the most unique feature is the headphone jack in the remote which really comes in handy when the wife wants to tune me out or other distractions. I know the roku3 has more functions but as yet I have not had time to fiddle with it. The wife is happy and the Roku box grabs the signal from the dual band router that is quite a distance away in our house and has only dropped a signal twice. Not sure of the recommended procedure to reboot the Roku but I just unplug the power cord wait a minute and plug it back in,and off to the races again. I think I should hang the router on the wall as it has four internal antenna's and I only paid $50.00 for it 2 or 3 years ago, so when it finally dies I will look for a higher end dual band router and that will probably fix this minor issue if hanging it on the wall doesn't fix it. My wifes computer station is about half way between the router and the roku box and she always has a solid wireless signal. The Roku box sit's on a shelf in the living room another 20 or 30 feet further downstream so I should probably put the roku box up on the highest shelf several feet above where it now resides, but I need to pick up a longer HDMI cord for that. Everything is pretty good with this considering the probable shortcomings of my wireless set up now. I'm sure in time I will have everything optimised but for all practical purposes the Roku 3 device is plug and play, couldn't be simpler even for a NOOB like me. TJ
