Great bang for the buck!

Bought this and lifetime Playon TV because I was tired of paying $60/mo to the cable company for 200 channels of nothing. Pros: Works very well and for the most part replaces cable. The earphone feature is great, though it drains the batteries faster. Cons: Can't get live news broadcasts (from the US) except for a half dozen major cities. Lots of movies, old and new tv shows to watch. Most major networks shows available a day or two after airing with a few exceptions. I finally bought an antenna and put it in the attic for local programming. Don't need cable TV anymore!
Pros: Easy to setup, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Easy to use, Fast Setup
Cons: Can't Get Live News, Can't Get Local Stations, Can't Fast Forward

My favorite device just got better

Hands down the best $99 you can spend. This is my 4th Roku and do not regret buying yet another. I use the head phone jack in the remote almost 90% of the time, every remote should have this.
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Head Phone Jack
Cons: Youtube App

Functionally more reliable than Roku 2

The audio jack on the remote is a big benefit, but not sure about the audio quality. I haven't been able to find any specs on this, but sounds a bit thin. Instead of the shipped earbuds, I tried a different headset with it, but it didn't improve. It may be limited by the stream quality. I've also had issue getting the 5.1 audio stream on NetFlix to work with my Roku attached to my home theater system, but haven't been able to debug this. The layout of the interface and configuration operations are excellent. Product streaming offerings are excellent.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: No on-off switch, No onoff switch

PROBLEMS WITH TIME WARNER CABLE APP

I purchased this device specifically for the Time Warner App. This app constantly gives me problems. It has to be closed out and restarted way too often. Sometimes I have to reboot the device. And sometimes, I just give up and use Netflix for the rest of the evening. It shows Netflix better than running from the web through my computer but the web gives me better control over my Netflix account. Overall I like the product BUT I am definately dissappointed with the TWC app.

Since I was widowed three years ago I did no watch TV, often because the times were not convenient. With Roku I enjoy being able to watch several episodes of favorite shows in a row. Such a relief to get away from constant commercials - a few short ones here and there are easier to tolerate.
Pros: Simple Controls, Saves Me Lots Of, Fast Setup
Cons: Can't think of any

We got rid of cable last month and don't miss it (or the bill) one bit. There is a lot of programming (we watch Netflix and Amazon Prime) available via ROKU. Our only regret is not buying ROKU sooner.
