I mainly use this with a PLEX media server, which runs on a Macintosh on my network. The speed of the Roku 3 (I have two of them) is an improvement over the Roku 2 XS (I have one of them). The responsiveness of the 3 is peppy and immediate. The new interface, now on both Roku versions is a vast improvement as well. I use a YouTube channel within PLEX to view YouTube, but it would be great if PLEX would allow a YouTube channel to be available at the top-level channel listing directly on the Roku. I realize this is probably some sort of legal limitation. I recommend Roku for all your TVs. It's great!

Love this device. I would have given 5 stars instead of 4 except for two problems. 1. Error message, would not work. One time problem which went away after an hour without remedial help. 2. Batteries supplied with unit became weak after about 2 months of use. Had to replace them. Otherwise, bravo.

use this product every night no commercial on most things we watch haven't found things that weren't great yet is commercial TV still out there? This thing is awesome.................

My vizio TV's smart apps are so buggy that I was forced to buy something else... I should have done my homework first and learned about the ROKU. If I had known I would NEVER have wasted $110.00 for the upgraded TV.

Much speedier than the previous Roku version and the interface is much cleaner. Much improved remote control over the Roku 2 - no more silly purple tag to scrape your palm with and the buttons feel naturally placed. I also like the remote's string cable so that I can grab the remote easily, however, the implementation of this new remote control feels a little rushed and is in need of a little refinement. The motion sensor light on the remote flashes for far too long. I can see it instead of whatever I'm watching - a distraction solved by turning it upside down, or more ironically by hiding it. I'm not really sure who was thinking what when this blinking light was considered a good idea. It serves no benefit other than I can see a remote contol blinking at me whenever I grab it or kick the covers while watching a movie in bed (yes, new habits die hard.) The solo feature is really a nice touch so I can watch the latest zombieapocalypse while my better half is sleeping. The 3.5mm jack isn't quite right on the remote. Headphones need to be pulled out a mm or so in order to hear sound, while running the risk of pulling the jack out too far and TV audio blaring out waking up aforementioned sleeping better half. Not good. Also, audio quality when using headphones plugged into the remote control can be a bit tinny at times and my headphones (Sony MDR7506) will pick this up. Those zombies just aren't as scary when they sound like they're on helium... which might be a good thing after all so that I too can get a good night's sleep. Even with these niggles with remote control I'm still rating the Roku 3 a 4/5.
