how I feel about Roku 3

The Roku 3 is visually appealing because of it's compact design. however, at the same time the compact design makes the Roku 3 player get very hot. I have tried to remedy this with placing water bottles and ice packs on top of the device to absorb and dissipate that heat. I really love the U.S.B. port.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Gets To Hot, Poor Design

Better experience than Chromecast

The user interface is the best of all streaming media devices, even better than Apple TV. Very quick and responsive. Way better than trying to use a clumsy phone or tablet app like Chromecast. But not having the YouTube channel is a big problem for an Internet video device. This eliminates half of the mainstream content for most users. And the inability to accept cookies means that you watch age-restricted content like red-band trailers, even on subscribed channels like Dailymotion. So essentially, the remaining content is actually like the other 300 channels of cable tv that you don't watch. Still, it is the best way to view Netflix, Amazon Prime, and similar Internet subscriber channels.
Pros: Attractive Design, Remote Control, Smooth interface, Fast Setup
Cons: Won't Accept Cookies, No Youtube Or Browser

Planning on going back to my old ROKU, it seemed to work alot beeter.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: Freezes Up A Lot, Have to reset it often

I like the Roku. I had 2 Roku 2 XS boxes before buying the Roku 3 and I had never (and still haven't) had an issue out of them. But with the Roku 3, I find that it keeps disconnecting from our network somehow and I don't know if it's because of an issue with the Roku or our network, but none of the other Roku's get disconnected and the Roku 3 is the closest to the router. I don't understand it. As far as performance, I love all my Roku's and the new interface of the Roku 3 was a much needed improvement.

Solid streaming device

I bought the Roku 3 to replace one of my Boxee Box units. The device is very easy to setup and has an attractive interface. Video and audio is clear and crisp and overall I have been very happy with the purchase. I do wish that it had more native support for local content, but I knew that was not an option before purchasing. My biggest complaint, however, is the lack of a dedicated Youtube app. Being a cordcutter, Youtube is a big source of entertainment so to have no way to play it on the Roku is a big disappointment. Every other set top streamer seems to have no problems getting Youtube support so I would really like to see Roku get in on the action. If this happens I would replace my remaing Boxee Boxes in an instant.

Cons: Can't Stream from network, Lack Of Youtube App

The Headphone Remote Control

I've owned Rokus since you could...I think this is my 4th. Bought it primarily for the new remote. The Roku beams audio BACK TO THE REMOTE, allowing a headphone jack in the remote. This is awesome and should be a feature of every remote control of every electronic device sold from now until the sun explodes, rendering all the remotes and electronics, and incidentally US, into scattered cosmic ash.

My house is ALL Apple products: but the Rolu surpasses the AppleTV in every area except for Airplay support. Highly and enthusiastically recommend.
