I cannot honestly say that it's better than our 2XD; both are wonderful. We use it to watch TV shows either not available here (lots of NPR) and movies. Most use is by our 6-yr old godson who watches movies and cartoons of various sorts (it's actually kind of embarrassing to have our favorites come up with Wallace and grommet, etc.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup

Best TV investment I've made in a while.

As I began to find cable prices absurd I considered alternatives. I tried Apple TV but it's very limited in use. Roku3 is by far top of the line in it's design for user ability and options for channels. The tablet app is huge for typing longer texts and cool that it can play music from the device. Now I only pay for internet and whatever subscriptions I have. Some of the channels are weak, but overall it provides me with music, movies, TV, news and games. Awesome when I'm hosting guests, too. Bought one for my parents.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: Does Not Improve Audio/Video

Because of Roku, we have not had cable since 2008. I can get more than I need with this device! We are 65 and find Roku to be a wonderful money saver!

Roku Rocks!

Until I bought my Roku, I streamed movies on Netflix through my wii. Roku is much more versatile, and easier to use. In addition to streaming Netflix and other streaming sites, I can view my facebook photos and, most important, listen to Pandora through my t.v. Great product!

Saving $1200 bucks a year!

My Family cut the cable cord this year. We will save 1200 dollars utilizing the Roku even with the pay channels we have added! The Roku comes preset with hundreds of channel choices. There are other channels in development that you can access that are available online. To boost our options we added Netflix($8 per mo), Amazon Prime(79 per yr) and Hulu Plus ($8 per mo). Plex is a free service and enhances your streaming viewing options as well. We may cancel Hulu Plus as we have been able to access regular Hulu through scripts on free channels. I love the fact that there are so few commercials or none at all depending on the channels you choose. I love the different options for world news as well as options to watch news broadcasts in other states in the US. If you don't receive Aero or Skitter TV in your area, you need a digital antenna to pick up your own local channels. There is educational, children's and good old fashioned Fun programming. A cool feature is the remote which comes with an earbud so you can listen while your husband or wife is asleep. The Roku 3 is the best option because you get access to channels that are unavailable with earlier models.I don't miss Cable at all, but love the opportunity to save money or go on an extra vacation! Also when we do travel depending on the power of the signal, we have been able to use our Roku at hotels! With the Plex option our queue is full of shows we watch with or without wifi! Great Great Great! Lastly, Sportsfans are always nervous about losing games, We haven't missed a beat, with a little research , you won't miss a thing! CONS:The only thing we don't have is the Sprout morning show, we get PBS kids with lots of options but the morning and good night show are repeats.Also you won't get to see some shows until the day after the air date. Back to PROS: We have more options and BETTER TV now than we ever had with cable! And we choose when and what we watch! We have given two so far as gifts! And are about to do it again!

Watch Amazon Prime Movies and some free movies. Can not get HBO because Comcast is a partner with Roku. Most free networks only show clips of shows not full program. (si-fy network). Most Free movies are old or unheard of, or come with commercials.

Roku 3 is very fast. It has by far the most program choices of any over-the-top device. It is truly a gatekeeper-free zone.

Good product, excellent price and does the work. I brought it a couple of months ago to replace the high-cost cable service and I don't regret it. My kids use it mainly, but when I have a chance I see a movie or two. So far I haven't had any problems with this device. Works perfect and saves you a lot of money!!!
