we cut the cable and this is all we use, i am watching something 12 hours a day 6 days a week, the new fad they call binge TV watching is a good discription of how we use it, we start a series like "Lost" which has 100 episodes, we watch them all then pick a different series, i hate the news so the only problem i have is you cannot get live SEC football, which we must have, so when that starts i will turn the cable back on with no contract then back off again when the season is over.....
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Free Tv, Fast Setup
Cons: None

We use it for streaming movies. There is no power switch and the unit is always on no matter how little energy usage there is. The remote is very basic. Keyboard to search for movies is very tiresome. We had SONY before with a remote with volume, on/off switch etc and very useful. Compared to that, Roku offers the most basic remote.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup

Tremendously innovative!

I have been a Roku fan since I pre-ordered in the very first batch. I've seen the enhancements come over the years, and a clear dedication to improving the device through innovation. More importantly, the device hasn't lost the focus on providing a simple, but very effective user experience. The content is great and new channels keep coming. Netflix is still the king of the streaming services and the Roku version is the benchmark everyone follows. Hulu Amazon also perform remarkably well. Audio and video performance is superb and the wireless works very well. The new remote is fantastic as well. Low power consumption and no noise make this a perfect bedroom device as well. Although it's not even close to a deal breaker, if you have a large local media collection the biggest deficiency is no support for local media via DLNA, SMB, or NFS. You can overcome this using a local Plex or PlayOn Server and the corresponding channel. My dream is XBMC integration via a channel, but that's a ways off I'm sure.
Doing search is cumbersome...always having to click okay after every letter Never had earlier models so can't rate if its better
Pros: Fast Setup

Love the Roku, EXCEPT that no YouTube is able to be streamed through it. That is almost a deal-breaker for me. If that changed, I would recommend to one and all!
Pros: Fast Setup, Inexpensive, Many Channels, Easy
Cons: No youtube

This is our third Roku. Love the ear buds for late night viewing. Loses remote connectivity about once a week. This is annoying but I can live with it. I have also had to do a factory restore twice in three months when I purchased it.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: Remote Looses Connectivi

Makes my BenQ Projector a movie jukebox

I use my Roku3 exclusively for outdoor movie viewing. At HD level the movies have sharp colors and crisp picture. Standard movies are OK and there is very little digital video glitch. I'm very satisfied. Now when a new movie is released I don't need to get into my car and run to a kiosk and then return to it. At first I had a Epson Moviemate 25 putting in in one kiosk DVD at a time. Now coupled with a HD BenQ projector and a digital sound boombox the Roku3 is like having thousands of DVD's in the size of a hockey puck. Very satisfied.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design
