HDCP problems mar an excellent product

This is an awesome little box. It has the same great usability as previous models (once you get used to the OK button having moved), but is even faster. It must do more caching, too, because it somehow even makes the streaming faster. The new features are sort of gimmicky, but handy. Its ability to play games is neat, but there's an audio bug in my version that made some games unbearable loud and nearly silent over and over. The wireless headphone system seems silly, but it turns out to be amazingly useful, and it performs quite well, allowing me to roam almost anywhere in my house before it begins breaking up. The motion tracking is...interesting, but aside from the Angry Birds game, it isn't effectively used much. Still, despite all that good, I ended up returning mine. The HDMI system on here is incredibly strict, and will regularly give you the HDCP purple screen of death for no reason. When you talk to Roku's tech support about it, they will ask you to swap around cables and cycle the power and all that stuff. This WILL fix the problem for now, but it will come back around eventually. I really hope that they come up with a fix for this soon, because it is a great step up from previous models. However, the worst DRM is DRM that interferes with legitimate uses, and you as a consumer should not support it. I returned mine, but I look forward to a future model that has these problems ironed out.

Love This thing

fun to use & explore use it mostly with Netflix & Time Warner cable. Just wish it could record for later viewing.

The Roku was something I thought my family could use to get away from cable and high prices, however, our blu ray has almost as many options and channels plus I don't need to unplug and plug it back in to get the Roku to respond because it is always frozen on the my channels page when I flip over to watch something on the Roku. Very disappointed with this buy.

We had the other Rolu machines but the signal from the wi fi kept dropping. The roku 3 has never dropped the signal.

Great Little Black Box

I use my little black box daily to view international and local news, weather, special TV and Internet programs, view and play music, play games, fitness/exercise/health sessions, movies and photo/videos. I severed my cable service during 2010 and I have not looked back. Roku provides all my needs without spending a fortune to view or use. I choose which channels I want to add for my viewing pleasure. Roku 3 is a great box. I hope future devices will provide application or web browser capability with direct Internet access to surf the web.

I have a ROKU in all areas in my house that have a TV. The ROKU 3 is a LOT faster than the other ROKU's I have. I love the USB in the side for a quick movie you may have on your computer. The only thing I dont like about it is it only has HDMI output. It would be nice to have RCA or Component, but there are other models that have that I suppose.

There are so many channels it is the best swiss army knife for local and web-based media viewing. Aside from Netflix, Amazon Video, Pandora Radio, Weather screensaver, new channels, Ted Talks, and more the one channel I use the most is Plex, which lets you play all of your music, pictures, tv shows and films you have stored on your computer on your tv wirelessly (it merely requires you install the free and easy to use Plex Server).

Cons: No power off button
