Perfect for those who want to save money

I upgraded to the Roku 3 from the Roku 2 XS. I love the Roku 3. It is noticeably faster than the Roku 2 and has a much quicker response time when playing games or selecting items in the menu. I use my Roku to save money on purchasing cable/satellite television. This device is perfect for those who want to streamline their budget and cut out regular television. I can stream the same kinds of things I'd watch on cable. I love how small the device is, I attached it to the back of my television, you can't even tell it's there! The remote can hit the Roku 3 from anywhere in my room. The setup is super easy, just hook up the power connector and the HDMI connector and then type in my Wi-Fi password and it's good to go! There are only a couple of issues I have with my Roku 3. It runs noticeably hotter than the Roku 2. I have been worried at times because the device gets so hot. I haven't noticed performance being affected by the heat, but I worry about the life of the device, since it runs so hot. The other issue is the super-glossy finish on the Roku 3. It collects dust and fingerprints like crazy. I blow off the dust every couple of weeks, but since it's behind my television, I don't worry about the fingerprints. The remote also turns itself on when you pick it up, which isn't a big problem, but it does eat up battery life. My issues aren't big issues. I love the Roku 3 and I have recommended it to friends. I have been hooked since the Roku 2 and I don't think that'll change anytime soon.

Cons: Runs Hotter Than Roku 2, Collects Dust

Great replacement of my cable....

I love the selections of the types of movies and tv,but I do not understand why they show Sci-Fi as a free selection but you can't watch any of the shows....only clips. This I feel is misleading and show be removed, what purpose does it serve.

The only reason I didn't give it a perfect rating is because it would be nice if it had a universal remote that could work on the TV. Not a big deal but would be a nice upgrade. Other than that its perfect.

DirecTV Out Roku In

I am not a heavy TV user. Some news and an occasional movie. But I was hoping to find something that I could do to keep my mind occupied during boring workouts in front of the TV. Sometimes with noisy exercise machines it is hard to hear and you have to crank the volume up and you still strain to hear what is being said. What I love about this is the nifty way you can plug a headset in and listen to your movie or show and have the volume disappear on your TV and have it directly into your ears. It is like 3D sound!

May be the beginning of the end of cable

Why I waited so long to get this is beyond me but I'm glad that I did wait till Roku 3 came out. I can't think of anything any easier to install or use than this little jewel. Not only did I do away with cable I don't miss it at all. The only negative I can think of is I can't seem to find a good relieable stream for live sports, but with the money I save on cable I can go to a sports bar and have a few beers and still come out ahead.
