Some problems, but great overall

I rent a furnished room here in DC--the Roku 3 has been the perfect fit for me. It connects to the house wi-fi easily, and features a headphone jack so that I won't disturb my roommates. It was as easy as plugging it in, connecting the HDMI cable to the TV, and setting the wi-fi password...took me 3 minutes. If you use the headphone jack alot, I recommend investing in an AA battery charger--you'll be swapping out the batteries at least twice a week. This product is not without its flaws, however. 1. The Roku 3 only permits HDMI connection to the TV; the Roku 2 is superior in that it offers both HDMI and the RCA composite. If you have an older TV, you cannot use the Roku 3. 2. When moving from location to location, I have found that I occasionally get blue screens during playback with the message: "hdcp unauthorised content" or somesuch. I can still hear the audio, but cannot view the movie/TV show. Sometimes a reboot of the roku helps. 3. Occasionally the remote doesn't work--I can still hear the audio through the jack, but the box doesn't respond to my attempts to pause the playback. I find that removing a battery, then putting it back in, fixes this. **** Despite some of the difficulties I have experienced, I still strongly recommend the Roku. Conveniently streams all my favorite internet television to my TV, regardless of location (only an internet connection required).

Cons: Hdmi Cable Not Supplied, Requires Hdmi Cable

Good but issues with network speed and S

Nice way to watch things. improved design but the three affects modem speeds and I was surprised that It seems to have taken over my SSID. I tried finding answers but was unsuccssful, Frustrated I unplugged it and cable speeds improved and my SSID is back.
Pros: Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Fast Setup
Cons: Changes Ssid To Roku, Poor Design, Slows Down Network

Roku 3 Great Upgrade

We cut the cable cord about three years ago and never looked back. The new search option was enough justification to upgrade to Roku 3. Instead of slogging through all of the different channels/applications for a specific movie, the new search option does the leg work not only by title but by actor and director...and it pulls up that person's body of work. Very much worth it! Thanks

My experience years ago with the first ROKU was not good. Set up was difficult and the signal was not reliable. The new ROKU 3 has solved all of those problems. Setup was a couple of minutes,have not lost a download signal yet. Downloading movies is very fast. Roku 3 is so good we cancelled cable.

The only issue I have had is that it loses the wireless connection much more often than the older version that I had

Nice device with plenty of viewing options. The device is fast and easy to use. My four year old knows how to use it! I also like the built-in headphone jack so I can listen in private without disturbing my sleeping wife.

Big Improvements on the Roku 2

I like having the option to connect directly to my modem rather than having to use the wireless, as there is almost no lag time when viewing a movie. Also, Roku 2 got very hot, while this one stays cool.
