A nice little gadget to have when all you have at home are a TV, and a little roku box. It provides you with endless streaming all through wifi! No need to watch humpbacked on the computer as you fall asleep, as now you can stream everything onto your television through this little box. Very convenient for most users, but pricewise, some may think it cheap, some may think it pricy. I'm just caught in the middle and think it's a decent price while it could be cheaper. Still recommended if you stream a lot.

Why would I use anything else?

We use our Roku daily. We ditched our cable (saved a fortune!) and pretty much use the Roku exclusively. With a wide variety of channels, access to Netflix, Amazon Video & Music, Hulu Plus and more, we don't really have a reason to use standard TV. We also purchased PlayOn/Playlater, which is a moderate substitute for missing live TV. Because you only buy the Roku once, you don't have monthly payments at all, unless you subscribe to Netflix, etc. I love the flexibility and easy navigation. The whole world is moving to streaming and Roku just makes that easier. I personally wouldn't ever go back! My only complaint about my Roku 3 is that the small black box can heat up pretty quick (so we unplug ours when we don't use it and keep it in a cool place) and that sometimes it needs a good reset. Other than that, it's worth every penny. We like Roku 3 because it has a USB and an ethernet connection. That lets us connect to even faster internet (though our wi-fi works fine with it) and hook up a personal harddrive if we feel like it. I wouldn't mind having a second box for my other room, since you can sync accounts and have immediate access no matter where you go in the house. The last thing I'll mention is the parental controls. You can set up a pin # so no one can download new channels without your permission, but beyond that, there's not much limitation. It would be nice to have other options to restrict what's viewed through Roku.

The addition of earbud listening solved a problem of dueling TVs in my home. However, my setup is such that to get the TV audio to my Stereo receiver, I have to tap off my cable box (No TV Audio Out). With the Roku 2, A/V Out solved that problem. With the Roku 3, without the A/V Out, I can not get around my TV's audio shortcoming.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Quiet Earbud Listening, Fast Setup

I love my Roku so much I have TWO!

I use my Roku everyday. I primarily got it for The Blaze, but also use for Amazon and Netflix. My one and only issue is the "reloading" and none of us who have one can operate the Microwave without it "reloading" until the Microwave shuts off. Strange, but not a big deal.

Great but it has problems

The set up went smoothly and the remote is far better than those for Roku 1 and 2. However the TV we set up the Roku 3 on is incompatible. Every time we started using it we got an error screen that said "unauthorized content" Removing and replugging either the power cord or the HDMI cable fixed the problem, but that was too annoying. We switched it to use on an older TV on which there is no problem.
