We specifically wanted something to stream Amazon Prime to the TV. Although we have a smart TV and Blu Ray, we don't have all the streaming channels - we would have needed to buy a new device - for $100.00, you can't beat this. Highly recommend it.

Great Little Black Box

While it was a gift for me. The whole family uses it. The remote is very easy to us. My 4 year old niece uses it without any problems. The content is nearly endless. With new channels always on the way. Everyone who comes over the house say's "What's a Roku". I give them the remote and let them see for themselves. It could use a YouTube channel.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: Freezes Some Times

I tis to bad Roku and most of the other streaming players on the market cannot have a 1 unit for every TV in the home. AT 99 plus per TV can be costly. however more and more people are using Ipad or Laptops for viewing needs. Youtube need to get on board and have it contents usable just like Netflex , Hulu PLus, Amazon Prime, That almost need to change to one combined plan like Cable instead of $7 to $10 per service. Also some of the channels on Roku are very poor and not worth installing one channel kept locking up and never did play so I had to remove it. Next it is to bad we consumers cannot pick and choose channels we want from ROKU like TCM, Fox Movies, NFL Channel. If Roku could do that great it save money and save as well.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Small Footprint
Cons: Need Combined Billing, 1 Unit Per Tv Is A No No, Monthly Service Fees, Battey Life Needs

We uses it most evenings only to stream Netflix, but it can do much more. It works so perfectly, and is so inexpensive, I'm happy we didn't buy a "Smart" TV.

Needs better home video stream app from a local home share, needs You tube and a web browser, if roku would have a browser it would be the ultimate streaming device, right now i have to rely on a computer running a browser which is a pain in the butt. Most of the free channels are garbage. If you want premium you still have to subscribe to Netflix or other streaming media which is cheap these day. Over all love my roku and will not re-connect cable.

Cons: Lack Of Control
